My first high end EDC purchase was a Sebenza 25. When I got it i was stunned at the perfection of the knife. I is a piece of artwork more than a cutting implement. Here in lies my dilemma. I have only carried my 25 a handful of times, I am worried that I might destroy it. I know it is composed of some of the toughest materials on earth, but I cannot bring myself to carry this knife on a daily basis, which why I purchased the knife. I am now left with the hard decision of leaving it in my safe, which is pointless for an edc blade. Selling it, which is a possibility or trading it here on the Forums for something I know I will carry. Is this blasphemy? I do not know what to do.

Use it and enjoy it. I have sebenzas that I have carried everyday for years and other than scuffs ( snail trails ), they are functionally like new. No worries on breaking any of the knives CRK makes under normal use. USE IT AND ENJOY IT.....!!!

The good thing about CRK are you can alway buy another. You don't have a discontinued knife. You don't have a one off knife. It will be around.
The other good thing is you can always have anything you want fixed. So even if you break it some how all you have to do is fix it.
This is just what I told myself when I put my small high polish micarta sebenza in my pocket.
If I break it I order another one put it in my pocket and send the broke one off to be fixed. As simple as that. I also would NEVER down great my EDC. I want to carry the best I can. Besides you want be happy with any other knife after you worked a CRK.
CARRY IT!!!!! Ha!!

I carried a large Regular for work every day for ten years. The knife cost me $350 at the time, a tidy sum then as well as now. Breaking it down to 250 work days a year, it only cost me 14¢ a day to carry and use the knife. What a bargain.

Do you guys pocket carry with the clip or do you carry it in a pouch or something?

Use it, I had a 25, I used it, Resharpened it, scratched the blade and clip and the titanium handle. It still held most of its value, and you can always send it in for a spa bath.

Use the thing. This is a current model, and not a collectable yet, so no reason not to use it. You can use it and I think you could still get your money back on it in ten years if you had too sell. They can also refurbish to look new again at any time.
Congrats on getting the knife !

Use this awesome knife, before you know it you won't be able to live without it.

Use it, when I first got mine it was the most expensive knife I ever owned , I went through the same thoughts briefly. Now it's not the most expensive knife I own so the pressure has come off of it, now there are other knives that I ask the same question about. What saves them is the fact that I already have a fantastic knife in my pocket. My seb25 gets carried daily and still looks great. It's a knife that you can't really appreciate until you use it? IMHO.

I love the math in this equation! It makes you feel a lot better when using those higher end knives. :)

Brother. . . Go ahead and put her to use and make it earn it's keep as a $445 tool/collectible/toy/pocket jewelry. You won't wear it out, use it up, or greatly diminish its value.

I pocket carry with clip- not worried about scratches, but I don't carry any of my knives with junk in the same pocket.
I highly suggest you just use it, once you get past the 1st scratch you will be fine and the knife was made to be used not sit in a safe. If you sell it you will be stuck in the same spot forever of being afraid to use a quality knife. Latter on you can always send it to the spa to be refurbished if you want.
Jump in, the waters fine:)

It is made to carry and use, so use it. I carry my regular Sebenza every day and have for the last 7 years.

A plain Jane 25??!!! Use it and love it…. do not fear what will happen to it, it was put on this planet to dish it out!!! There's no way you hurt it without help….

Well I currently have the 25 in my pocket as I type this. I am going to carry it for a week and see what happens.

It may be expensive, but it is by no means a precious commodity that will lose value if you use it.

Carry it, use it, and a decade from now you can get most of your money back if you sell it.

If you don't use your 25 you are missing out on the best part (visually speaking) of this model in my opinion. The pocket wash that develops on the edges of the additional curves and protuberances of the 25 slabs is gorgeous, and perhaps more appealing than what happens with a 21 or Umnumzaan. The knife might be nice to look at brand new, but after a month with your keys, it will look even better. The hard edges of the finger ramps go shiney, and there is an interesting contrast between the curvey handle slabs and the straight criss-cross of a typical pocket wash on the flats.

It takes about a month of pocket time before things start to settle in. The first few scratches can be eye-sores, but as they multiply they start to fade together. I personally would not want my 25 back to pristine. it's just starting to look good.

Cut something with it. Whittle some branches or cut something. As soon as you get a scratch on the blade you will get over keeping it as a safe queen. That is what I do, and it gets me over that feeling of not wanting to use the knife, and onto enjoying it for what it is. Which is one awesome knife.
