I recently got my first PM2. It's the green cts-204p I managed to get when KW offered up 70 on their facebook page. Based on what I'd read on this and other forums my expectations were high and I was happy with what I got for the most part.
The only thing that bugged me was that the knife it was very gritty opening and closing. It alse favored the lock-side slightly when closed, but this didn't bother me so much. I debated for a few days on whether or not I wanted to take it apart to clean it or send it back in for repair. I was sure it just needed to be cleaned and that there wasn't some manufacturing flaw that would require a warranty repair. How could I tell? I don't know, maybe I'm a knife whisperer...
Last night I broke down and took it apart and holy lock-tite batman! There was lock-tite everywhere. I cleaned everything, wiped everything down with my tuff cloth, let it dry and then reassembled it. It's now the smoothest knife in my humble collection and the blade is dead centered.
I realize my warranty is now "void" but I'm not too concerned about it. I end up taking apart all my knives because I'm too curious about their internals not to.
So what do knives whisper to a knife whisperer? Mostly things along the lines of "I'm lonely, buy more knives" or "I'm not sharp enough, buy more sharpening supplies" or "I would look good with custom scales, buy a scroll saw so you can make me some". I'd better stop there or my wife might start thinking I've gone all "Beautiful Mind" on her.
