Sorry for the ladies in the pack but i found this great set of adds from Canadian Club Whisky and thought some people here would enjoy them as well!

does anyone feel manly enough to live up to that image?

2 oz Whisky
2 dashes Bitters
A splash of triple sec
a bit of simple syrup/sugar.

Pour into a rocks glass filled with ice and stir, then smile.

Well, that takes me back. All the way back.:D

CC is pretty light stuff, though. It's good!! It's just ... light.

Lagavullin, Laphroig, Ardbeg, MacAllan. Substantial.

I just like a whiskey straight up....Or a good rum....Or a good bourbon.......Sometimes tequila.....A hell - just give it to me straight and keep the damn sugar away

OP - I love the single malts (you sure like your Isley's)- but sometimes I just like to slum it too :D

Ha! The mr was just doing shots of whiskey. Blech I'll pass!

I have come around on the tequila though. My neighbors gave me a shot the other day and it was pretty good. Not like the light your esophagus on fire kind I had way back when.......man that was before we were married!

I, too, remember dressing like that and drinking CC. Afterwards everyone did bong-hits

Nowadays it's Glenfiddish or Black Bush, NEAT

Though Patron shooters ain't bad.

Any quality bourbon and coke...........At this moment i am about two hours after getting off of work so it is Jack and coke number 2

Bah! I don't like frilly sweet drinks much and yet I tell you:
If you have not tasted a properly made cocktail you have not yet lived. When I finally got it right it was an almost religious experience.

I shall provide the recipe as set down by Jerry Thomas in 1862. This was THE first cocktail.

3 or 4 Dashes [1 TSP] of Gum Syrup
2 Dashes of Bitters
1 Wine Glass [2 oz.] of [Booze, pick your poison.]
1 or 2 Dashes [1/2 tsp.] of Curacoa

Stir with ice and strain into a glass. Twist a small piece of lemon peel over the glass, rub the rim with it, then throw it in.

Gum syrup is basically 1/1 mix of sugar and water by volume. The bitters can not be omitted, Angostura are the most readily available these days. Gran Marnier would be a good choice for the curacoa, but I'm poor and make do with cheap stuff

I'm too young to remember any of those ads, but they are pretty funny and it's a shame you'd never see anything like that anymore.

I'm a fan of either straight Jack on the rocks or Jack/Coke.

RAT #36

After that bitchy session you had a couple of days ago, I suggest that you keep tequila on hand at all times and, when you feel the B start to swell up inside you, take a few shots. And yes, shotgunner will still love you in the morning. ;) :D

These are new adds based upon old times. They are stirring the anger of the feminists and gays and it won't be long until they are forced to remove the adds cause the pics don't include minorities and "other" sexuals. Google "Canadian Club Ads" and the first couple of entries are by women (I think) bitching about the "maleness" of the adds. It's down right sickening.

Those ads are bad ass. Looks like they could be holding a Miller High Life in the other hand, smoking Viceroy or Lucky Strike cigarettes.

An era gone by.

I am literally the ONLY person that I know that drinks whisky without some kind of pussy mixer.

That is sad. Ordering a Makers on the rocks should not elicit "How do you drink that shit?" and "That needs a whole lotta pepsi before I could drink it."......but it does.

Few years ago I had a couple friends ask me if I wanted to go to one of the local bar for $2 long island iced teas. " No."

Long ago, I started down the road from Glenlivet to Islay (and other strong single malts like Talisker and Highland Park). When I got to the end of the road, I sat down.:)

Nothing wrong with lighter whiskies, I still have a dram now and then. It's just that the deeper and stronger single malts are so much more interesting.

[Yes, Tripton ... no mixes. Maybe a dash of branch water to bring out the aromas.]
