Nice, level access to the waterfront there ... :eek: I hope all is well re: property damage. What a downpour.
 
During Irene the water was up to our mailbox. The only way to get out of the neighborhood was with a kayak.

When I was kayaking to my neighbors' house, I saw beavers in the river that was once my street, and turtles lounging on the mailboxes.
 
Funny thing is we live on a hill. It rained so hard so fast there was nothing we could do. They had hail as big as a softball (words of the weatherman) in the next town!!
 
I would say that I would trade you my snow for your rain but.. nope. I will take my one lane snow covered street over that anyday.
 
I think you are in roughly the same area as me Monofletch. We got lucky, a tornado touched down 70 miles from St. Louis, and another ripped through Illinois north of us with 200 mph winds and 2 fatalities. My basement had some water in it, but I feel lucky comparatively. It was a rough week to be sure!
