As I look for a good 4" fixed blade, for when I want more than my Mini Canadian but less than my Becker Crewman, I keep coming back to the Helle Odel offered at Ragweed Forge. The knife is very pleasing to my eye with its birch and antler handle, but also offers that practical Scandinavian design. It's like a fancy, top-shelf mora.

Who can tell me more about these, either to urge me on or talk me out of one?

I won't talk you out of it at all! That looks like one heck of a good knife at a good price! After recently getting some scandi style knives myself...I want more! :D -Matt-

What's not to like? Looks pretty sweet to me. Helle has a great reputation, I'm sure you'll like it.

I don't really care where it's made as long as it is of good quality for the price ($60-70 bucks, it seems).

Helle is well known in the knife world for great quality. You'll also fall in love with scandi grinds if you buy this knife (easy to sharpen, spectacular carving ability). I think Helle's strongest point are the handles though. They have no pointy edges and are perfectly proportioned. I'm sure you'll be happy with your purchase! Jeez I feel like the Helle spokesperson :D . BTW Helle knives are made in Norway.
