I think Rob Stanley's place got raided....

It says Glock handguns.... that would make me think a pile of them.

There were the engraved anniversary models that individually were in that price range as well.

Hahahaaaa...... Just trying to keep the feral hogs under control officer :barbershop_quartet_

I spotted a couple of BB guns......AUS will end up passing a new law because of this news story.

A lil bit ago I heard something about the gov. Coming after bolt action rifles in Australia? Any truth to that?

I saw a quick video of the firearms on the news, there were some real historic rifles and I hope that they don't end up being crushed. I could always use another Lee-Enfield. :) Also spotted was what looked to be an Owen gun (I could be wrong) and an M1 Garand, as well as various Colt/Armalite models and russian AK models.

Another "quality" article using "emotion based" reporting to help influence the reader.

The only emotion it generated in me is that I feel for the guys who were raided unless they had nefarious plans. But somehow I have a feeling they were just enthusiasts trying to stay under the radar and somebody's loose lips caused the loss of a decent collection and now criminalization of decent folks. If it turns out they were up to no good, then I say "Good On Ya" to the LEO's involved.

Glad you don't have anything like that stuff Rob... just quality gardening and cooking "tools" around your place eh?;)

MP5k, several converted to FA AR15s, two L1A1 SLRs, one L2 Automatic rifle, Owen machine carbine, F1 SMG with supressor, the better part of an M60, some AKs (probably converted Mae Guns, a Chinese made "Hunter" style AK that came here in the 80s and which were then turned into pretty good versions of the real dea)l. Several handguns, unknown if they were licenced or not, unlicenced Glock 17 or 26 runs $5-10K to the scumbags. Homemade "MAC10s" - rough no stock- made here in Sydney (guy made and sold 100 before selling a couple to UC Police) were going for $15K. Looking at the agencies involed in the search/intel would indicate that the people involved were not just a few god 'ol boys.

When I grow up, that is my goal to have that much guns and ammo

....nothing at all I have heard specifically about every bolt gun, at one point they were pissing and moaning about large calibre "sniper rifles" the .338 Lapuas, .50BMGs etc. It has gone quiet again. In NSW they have put more regulatuion around ammunition sales as they realise that it is not folks like me going to but a new rifle/pistol that is the problem. The theory is to starve the ammunition supply, but most all acknowledge that it is a rubbish idea and will probably go the way of the Dodo in a couple of years. Still, it is just paperwork for the dealer, I can still walk in and snap up all the ammunition I could ever want.

WTF?! Thankfully Australia is not America. These goons were using/supplying guns for criminal purposes, for Christ's sake. Is it so difficult to believe that getting rid of these guns was a good thing?

Chris.

The story did not mention that they guys in question were gun running. They were licensed gun owners that my have been holding guns for friends. Did they have some illegal guns, yes. Was there any criminal activity going other than possession, we don't know. The story did not mention. Just owning a guns does not drive you crazy.
I love Australia. I don't want to change anything about this place. I just don't think it is fair to vilify gun ownership.

Do you think I'm vilifying gun ownership? If you're referring to me I can say that's not was I was doing. Not at all. Guns have been a part of my daily life for as long as I can remember, for better or worse. I was responding to one or two wildly ill-informed posts. I considered not posting at all but to call these people patriots was so laughable I just couldn't resist. And you're right, Australia is a great place, but I'm worried about where its going.

Chris.

AUS is out of control on restrictions. Steveleeilikeguns has a good you tube Chanel from AUS and around the world. Renting a RPG in Thailand to blow up a Toyota:D, good videos and music.

I think a lot of AUS don't think they are out of control with restrictions. AUS is a great place and they want to keep it that way. Most Australians I have met do give a hoot about guns. they think it is almost strange that someone would feel the need for a gun.
There has been more than a few big news stories that I have seen and think.......someone is going to try and pass some law.....and sure enough some politicians wants to pass a new law. Overall they like big government. It seems to work for them.

Thanks Andy , that's good news.

I read the article yesterday morning before I went to work. I saw no mention of supplying criminals. Due to your post, I reread the article and again, saw no mention of using to supply criminals, but did see about "holding them for other people"

Odd they mention all the "military guns", but at the moment are only releasing pictures of hunting rifles and a dangerous lever action 12 gauge made in China; and the mention of "rifles featuring telescoping lenses" (like scopes are evil).

I just mostly find it humorous on the article, like most gun articles. If that family lived in America, and every full auto they owned was acquired by paying a tax stamp and all the legal work, and for some reason they got busted out of some bogus conspiracy charge, even by getting the rifles in a legal way, I can only imagine the "arsenal" articles that would spew all over the internet and tv

If it turns out that the family was supplying gangs or whatever, then yeah, I'm an assh*le. Wouldn't be the first time.
