I think Spyderco should do a Dragonfly XL, how about you?

I really love the little dragonfly but my larger hands are longing for a big brother.
am I just crazy?

I don't expect they would do an exact scale increase in every dimension, Spydie hole, Hardware etcetera. but maintaining the overall size and shape would be nice in my mind.

anyways. the image I did prints to scale when fit to page on 8.5x11 with no boarders.

I actually really like the small size and is one of the best attributes of the knife. It really fits the small/lite carry days, such as gym shorts and such. If you feel that it comes up short, which sometimes will happen with the Dragonfly, we might be using it for the wrong application.
Your idea is interesting, but just feel like a frn Manix pretty much fits the bill.

I also love the small size of the current Dragonfly in certain situations and ergonomically the FRN Manix would be close to what I propose. but I just don't care for the bearing lock mechanism in the Manix line at all. I have handled about half a dozen variants of the Manix and all but one had noticeable lock rock ( like in a previous post I made). I'm just not a big fan of this particular locking mechanism. while it is very unlikely to fail under normal use, it just bugs me that its not solid.

I really like the idea of a broad blade lockback like an up-sized Dragonfly.

Sorry, but I'm going to have to disagree. The small actual size and "big size feel" is what really what makes the Dragonfly so special IMO.

Or a Calypso Jr if you want to keep the lightweight FRN part. :)

Not quiiiite the same ergos (Calypso Jr is better, imo), but pretty similar blade shape.

They already did . . . it's called the Ouroboros. (ok not the same but kind of  )
AND it has a compression lock so hallelujah !
It's not ZDP-189 but does everything have to be ZDP-189 ?
Noooooooo
. . . well maybe . . .
yes everything has to be ZDP-189. ;)

Actually I lean mostly toward this blade shape (and handle shape come to think of it). My newest knife.

So I would prefer Spyderco go narrow and long; doesn't have to be quite as pointy as the Pattadda but man I'm not complaining. This is a killer good knife for the things I use a knife for.

The current handle design is shaped well to fit in 3/4 of your palm, where your pinky rests on the angled tip of the handle. I don't think that single curved shape would feel very comfortable if it were full-hand sized.

A finger-choiled Delica would be nice, but there are so many similar knives with that already, the Caly 3, the Chaparral, the Sage models, the Native... If you can forgo the lock, you might really like the UKPK. It is barely heavier than the Dragonfly, with a 3" blade.

I had no idea there were any similarities between the Ouroboros and the Dragonfly, but your excellent comparison picture shows there are.

I think the major appeal of the Dragonfly is its size. Changing that would remove my whole reason for buying one. I would, however, love to see some more corrosion-resistant steels being used. The ZDP189 is terrific but tends to get small rust spots when it lives in my pocket and the VG-10 doesn't hold its edge long enough for my personal taste. Would love to see an S30V or LC200N or even CPM 154 version, but I'm not holding my breath. That said, I will always have at least one of these in my collection.
