I managed to get an entire box of these Schrade Tradesman's and may be able to get more.

The model is the TM6 that I found that Schrade manufactures 1991-1993, but I can't find one that matches these.

They have the normal “TRADESMAN” printed on one side of the blade, but have “First Production Run” printed on the other side.

I have looked through the Schrade knives on the Internet and have not been able to find a knife that looks like it.

I wouldn't think that Schrade would print “First Production Run” on anything other than their first production run.

I don't know anything about collecting knives, but I would think that a true “First Production Run” new in the box would be worth more money? I collect guns not knives. If someone the REALLY knows what they're talking about could fill me in on these knives I'd send you one for your trouble. If you get back to me by 11 in the morning. If they are valuable I will meet the gentleman that I should be able to get more of them tomorrow afternoon.

Welcome to Bladeforums. I've moved this from thee general Knife Discussion to our Schrade Knives Collectors Forum.

Please realize that you cannot offer anything for sale here as a Registered User. You would need to upgrade to a paid membership.

Identification is always easier and more accurate with good pictures.

They were a lower priced utility knife made in Ireland, as Trent said. I don't think there's too much collector value yet, although with the short production run it may increase as the years go by. Not sure if it's worth forking over the cash for another box though unless you're getting them for next to nothing IMHO.

Brian:

The Tradesman 1st Production Run are Taylor Schrade remakes (made post 2004). Likely not the original 1991-1993 Schrade Tradesman Series.

Check your boxes and see if they are Schrade knives made in Ellenville New York, or Taylor Brand LLC knives.

The original knives were made in Ireland and are stamped Imperial Ireland. Handy knives for construction and handyman chores, but neither vintage are collectors items. In fact, the 1991 Series sell for less than retail on the Internet.

Well, now I see Trent and Eric are still up and at it! :D

I bought a few NIC "Ireland" ones for like 8 bucks a pop a few years ago
They are ok
Not great
For 8 bucks it was a decent deal
I gave a few away to a few non serious knife people as gifts
With the yellow recessed shield, or what ever that is, I think they make good toolbox type knives...
Has that Stanley Tools look to me...

Now that I look at mine
They are technically IMPERIALS, not Schrades

If this is HEAVY DUTY
What does the regular duty one look like!!??

Have to love the Internet. If you know how to do a good search you can find out anything you need to know. I'm sure that they're the first run Taylor knives.

Thanks much for the info. They'll make nice gifts anyway.
