I walked in, returned the vex. My complaints on that knife are: Stiff blade actions, liner lock too thick and makes your fingers numb. Anyways, i got to the knife counter and the guy knows me pretty well so i told him what i was looking for and he pulled out a griptillian and a mini. I liked how small the mini was but i was looking for a larger knife. Not being a fan of combo edges i asked if they had any plain, he said no so i settled. I guess it has a decent amount of plain edge on it and a decent amount of serrated to be useful. So i finally got a blue class knife... i feel like ive stepped up!

You stepped up allright, but again, I bet you paid retail. Were you willing to wait 4 or 5 days (less in some cases), you can have the Grip in plain edge...for less.

No, I don;t advocate NOT shopping at brick-and-mortar retail stores, just that, in my area anyway, they sell every knife they have at or above MSRP. I can't go for that.... that's not competitive. If they can't compete, they'll suffer.

Congratulations. Benchmade's subbing out to Taiwan ticks me off. It's not that Taiwan can't make a good knife, it's just that they're not...and there's no reason for BM to sub-out (sell out). For any that would argue that point, I ask again (as I have before)....Why don;t they make ALL their knives overseas then?

Ha, thats the first time I've heard somebody complain about a liner being TOO thick...

Enjoy the Grip, but I would have bought it online.

It was way too thick. Very uncomfortable and with the jimping on it it literally took the skin off my thumb, and i have tough hands! The scales came up too high which gave me a poor push on it to begin with so it was just hard to close it my finger kept slipping. I liked it when i first got it but i have to say its the crappiest knife ive ever bought/held.

A step-up would have been to get a Kershaw Cyclone.:D. Actually, the BM "Grips" aren't TOO bad, as I've owned a few of 'em myself in the past.

Dang, Glockman,

I've been collecting knives for many years, but have just recently joined the forum to get opinions and info. It hasn't taken me very long to realize that your love affair with the cyclone is disturbingly deep! :D I have a bunch of Kershaws, but after reading your posts here and there, I am certain I must add a cyclone......maybe six or seven!!!

Cheers,
Jon

I have 3 of 'em, so you DO have some catchin' up to do.:D.

Enjoy you Grip, don't stress about where you bought it.

Tiny's right. I was wrong to harp on price mark-ups after a purchase has been made. A bad day at work or something sometime's shows up in my posts, and it shouldn;t.

You done good with the Griptilian, CanonRebel.

good choice -its a sweet knife-

next get yourself a prepaid debit card and go online-

and dont forget there are a few-sfo (special factory order) griptilians available if you choose to upgrade the steel-cabelas has a d-2 one i believe and one with a slightly different blade shape and s30v called the ritter grip

The prepaid debit card is an absolute A+ idea. It will cost you a small amount to load it but then it works just fine. I have one that I load monthly to use for my online purchases, even though I have a bank card also. Just feel more comfortable using one I load only for immediate purchases and then it goes to a near zero balance.

Yeah, never heard of those! I will have to look into them, but it will be easier for me to blow my cash lol. So, are there any drawbacks you guys can think of to the griptilian? I have the one with the thumbstuds.

i can think of only one.the other knifes you own wont get no use because you will be using the gript all the time:)
