It's seems like a really long time since I placed my order for a CQC6 back in July 1996. Since that time I have graduated from college, received and left jobs, got married, been blessed with the birth of a baby boy, changed careers and reentered school :(. Since that faithful day in July of 1996 I have suffered from what can only be called 'Emersonitis' which translates literally to "Not having one". Let me tell you my suffering was extreme. Every time I saw a posting regarding a 6 I practically cried. Every time I saw someone trying to sell one for 3 times what they cost and me with no money made me feel like I was passing a kidney stone. Worst yet I was actually jealous of those who were lucky enough to have their own 6's  . Well my friends my wait is almost over!!!!!

No more than 20 minutes ago, while I was reading the "Show Me your CQC6" post on this forum. The phone rang and the caller was Marry Emerson from Emerson Specwar knives! In my excitement I have forgotten much of the conversation but remember a few choice words - "Marry from Emerson SpecWar Knives...You have a CQC6 on order... your name has come up...are you still interested...I will ship it out today and you should have it my tomorrow!..etc" After I got off the phone all I could think was "holly crap, what just happened!".

Anyways, I just wanted to share my excitement with people who could appreciate it. Thanks for reading! :D

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I'll give you what you paid for it plus 100 bucks and a used CQC-7b.
Don't even open the box, just forward it to me.
Whaddya say?
:D
LOL

Seriously, enjoy your knife, I'm VERY jealous!

Even though I've got several customs that's a call I still await!

You'll appreciate it even more since you've waited so long for it! -

So like do you even have to pay the balance on this knife? I've never gotten the call saying my custom is ready. Do they just ask you to put it on a credit card?

Mac

Congratulations! I know exactly how you feel. Ain't it great! :D

Do please let us all know what you think when it gets there!

John

Mac,
Congratulations, I know how you feel as I've been waiting since Nov 97. I guess good things do come to those who wait :)

Man Oh man the anticipation is killing me! I think I might stay home today just so I can greet that big ugly brown van or whoever will be delivering it. :p

Another thing for those on the waiting list - just a a point of reference to gauge where you stand my invoice was #913. ;)

Sniper, when Mrs. Emerson called she said I could send payment or for faster delivery pay the balance with a credit card. I figured I had waited enough and opted for the faster CC payment option.

Laserman1, good things do come to those who wait and your 6 should be along any time now. This puchase is especially sweet since I did not have to pay 2-3 times the price to get it. You don't know how many times I had to talk myself out of breaking down and spending the money to HAVE ONE NOW! Somehow I stuck to my guns and waited out the storm without breaking the bank and now comes my reward.

Thanks all for your replies it really makes the moment more special to share it will all of you. As soon as I receive my 6 and have a chance to handle it in private I will post my findings and hopefully some pics. Man am I excited!!!!!!!:D

:D

:D

Mac,

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I am doomed to never enjoy that phone call and I will have to pay an astronomical amount to join the elite group of Custom owners

If I may ask, What does a custom through Emerson cost?

Again, CONGRATULATIONS

I am green with envy!

:p

:D

surfin ronin,
Back in 1996 when I ordered my knife the cost was $475 or $425 and that's exactly what I paid for it.

Just as a special note I have received several emails from forum members asking me if I am willing to sell my yet to be received knife. My answer should not suprise anyone...thank you but no thank you! I have waited so long that I couldn't even conceive selling it regardless of how much profit I could make. This has been my dream knife for a long long time and I intend to hold onto that dream as long as I can.

Mac

Hell yes I did!
I received my new knife on Friday afternoon and it has not left my body since. My wife is alittle miffed at how I show my new knife more attention than her and my son. Heck my reasoning is simple, I have wanted this knife longer than I have wanted her!!!! ;) Anyways, I don't think this knife is much different than the others which are presently in circulation, but I will try to post some pics of it as soon as I can. In the meantime let me give you all a discription:

* Satin blade with no date or serial number :o
* Double beveled :( ( I would have prefered a zero ground bevel
but you have to go with the flow!)
* The blade is the older style rather than the C-7 style
* file work on upper and lower bolsters :D
* silver carry clip
* green micarta slabs (ofcourse)

I have to tell you guys when I first got home and saw the box I was kind of scared to open it. It dawned on me that one of my dreams was about to be fulfilled and I was kind of sad. I actually didn't open up the box for 2 hours later and then another 10 minutes staring at the emerson specwar box my knife came in. Call me sentimental but I wanted to remember everything about this. Anyways, long story short this is really one heck of a knife, great balance, nice size, excellent feel in my hand....you get the picture! My only question is, "does this qualify me to be a "Usual Suspect?"

Mac

This is totally off topic, but I have found that thinking about having something can be almost as good as actually having it. Not only do dreams rarely come-true, but they rarely measure up to expectations even when they do. Fantasies, on the other hand, are always perfect, and never promise more than they deliver. -Mr. Santucci (recluse)

I must say - call me a wuss or a senti but that was really a momment you had there (waiting for 2 hours to open your knife) - it's a dead romeo society nowadays and I am happy the you had that moment.. :) you'll never have it again.. but yes it's time for you to move on and blaze and conquer new dreams.
Congrats sir..

Congractulations, Mac! You are in the position I was about 3 years ago when my 6 arrived. I then found this Forum and it has been a great time ever since. Now there are all kinds of custom tacticals in the house and production Emersons! I have only one Emerson custom on order and that will probably be my last since I do not pay the market prices for custom Emerson's. Dick
