i recently picked up a BK-7 that i like alot but the past owner tryed to remove the black rinkle finish and it looks bad.i contacted camillus to see about having it refinished and was told a flat no.don't you think a company would like to have owners of their knives happy and want to but another--i guess not

A few points to think about.
1. First and foremost, no company is responsible for what a customer does with it's products. If someone alters it after purchase, they have no control nor should they be expected to correct the situation. If the knife (in it's original form) had failed or broke, they would have been better suited to help you.
2. Cost! The BK 7 is sold at such a low price that the actual cost of repairs would have been greater than the cost of you buying a new knife. With the special handling it would require to place one used blade into a batch and keep track of that one blade throughout the entire process would mount up rather fast.
3. Please don't take this wrong. You are not their customer. You were the customer of the boy from whom you bought the knife. If you decide after the sale that it should have been in better condition, talk to the person that sold it. But think about it. You bought it that way.
Camillus is a rather fine knife company. But please remember the key word, "Company". They are in business. They will do whatever is WITHIN REASON to assure customer satisfaction.

Have to agree with much of what Terrill said. The cost to Camillus of prepping and refinishing your BK7 on a non-production basis would exorbitant. Besides, the condition of the finish, and how it got that way, were known when you bought the knife; presumably the price was appropriately discounted.

But here's a suggestion: why not do-it-yourself, with a product like Brownells Baking Lacquer? --
