I threw away my AFCK...long story

I live in Kuwait and was determined not to spend another Christmas in this armpit so I made reservations to see my Thai girlfriend in Thailand. The flight left late at night so I just wore the jeans I wore to work that day. I got to the airport in Kuwait and beeped at the first security checkpoint. The cop never looked up and I just shrugged because I knew I was clean. At the second metal detector I didn't beep at all and sat by the gate. Something made me feel my right rear pocket and I felt my AFCK, I'd forgotten to take it out and had already checked my luggage. Crap.
I had a layover in Dubai and had planned to meet my filipina Dubai girlfriend there (she works in duty free). I wrapped the knife in a newspaper and planned to give it to her but I had to pass another metal detector. I've learned the hard way in the past not to mess with Dubai security especially these days. I went to the john and threw the newspaper with the knife away.
I remembered too late that I could have put it in my carry on but I still would have had to pass security when I changed planes in Bangkok.
Oh well, lesson learned. Take nothing for granted, check your pockets. At least now I have an excuse to order the AFCK with an Axis lock which I should have done in the first place.
The good news is I met a Chinese woman on the flight from Bangkok who lives in Dubai...

I can see how that could happen. Tough enough keeping all the girlfriends straight.

I remember awhile back where it was suggested that if you plan on flying, to carry a padded envelope addressed to your home address, with postage on it. Then rather than throwing-away your pocket-knife, you could have mailed it (to yourself) in the airport, prior to going through the security check.

I intend to never travel by air again in my life time. Heck, with all of the lay overs and delays while being security checked that I can beat you anywhere in my truck if the drive is under a 1,000 miles.

Anyone I value as a friend (with the exception of L.O. Little) lives no further than 600 miles from me. Most live under a 100.

If I had to fly, (to pick up a million dollar inheritance, a demand by Congress, the entire State of Wisconsin was on fire, that type of thing) I will just carry a pre-stamped padded envelope with my home address, or that of a trusted friend, and tell security to just pi$$ up a rope.

Yeah, I know I'm a smart mouth. Been so for five decades.

In the mid eighties, he realized just before going through security at LAX for a flight to London that he was carrying an original Gerber Guardian double edged knife. While security back then certainly wasn't as strict as it is today, but in CA double edged knives are a no no. He was running late for his flight and tossed it in a trash can.

He's still trying to replace that knife years later. He won't settle for a new Guardian or the Camo old version. He wants an original black one.

I hate it when that happens.
