I tied this lanyard on my GW...and then had amnesia! Can anyone help?

Ok, I originally followed instructions that I had found on coyotesniper69's website (it's gone now) and tied this nifty lanyard directly on my Game Warden.

Since then, he has deleted his site and I cannot remember how to get this started! :o

Does anyone know how to start this? I can braid it but just can't figure out the initial loop...I'm sure it's easier than I make it out to be.

I've been wondering about these different braids myself. I was wondering if there was a site that shows how to do them. That one you mentioned is down?

On another topic, I have a skeleton warden that I wanted to do a Japenese style handle wrap on. Anyone know where I can learn how to do that?

OMG. I just went to that link and had major flashbacks to summer camp arts and craft sessions. Thanks for the link.

Any idea how to learn to do a paracord handle wrap?

Just look in the for sale gadgets and gear section. Erics daughter makes excellent lanyards for a really good price.

Because of a virus I no longer have the original pics so I took a few quick shots to show you. This is going to be down and dirty but if you have done one before you should be able to figure it out with this refresher.

Step 1:
Remove inner stands of both pieces of paracord and melt ends. Make a half square knot leaving a loop, center the half square knot so there are equal amounts of paracord.

Step 2:
Run the second strand of cord through the loop and center it:

Step 3:
Take one pice of the cord and fold both ends towards itself:

Step 4:
Take the other cord and go over the first chord and under the second, place the cord against the loop created by the second chord. Then repeat with the other side of the cord.

Step 5:
Pull Tight, then repeat steps 1 - 4 until finished. When its the desired length just cut the cord and melt the ends.

here is the alternate method which makes it look diagonal:

Step 1:
Create the first knot like the one described above

Step 2:
Instead of making the loops beside each other, cross them over:

Step 3:
Take the other cord and go over under like in the previous method. The difference is if you crossed them properly in step 2 then these will have to cross each other to lay against the loop created by the first cord:

Step 4:
Continue until desired length. I like to make my last knot or two the regular square one like described in the first process. I feel it gives it a little added strength. Finally cut and burn the ends.

Good luck and hope this helps you out. If there are any questions, just ask and I will do my best to help.

You are welcome.
When I get back to the states I may redo my website. I really need to find a better way to do my webpage. The free websites provided by yahoo just dont give enough bandwidth.

You can pay about 100 bucks a year on Yahoo and get tons of storage and bandwidth. Service seems pretty reliable, too.

for lanyards and wraps, check out one of the many knot books. my favorite is the ashley book of knots.

for a handle wrap, there's two kinds. one hi a hangmans knot tied with the handle INSIDE the turnd, then snugged down by pulling on each end. the other is a series of half hitched whick gives a spiral effect much like a hockey stick handle. iirc, its called french hitching. i put it on my rippers, so if i'm covered in blood, slime and fish guts, the knife doesn't slip.

I gotta grab my paracord and make some interestin stuff like that. All I can do is Cobra and King Cobra lanyards. Not that they ain't cool, but they don't fit with a smaller knife.
