I'm expecting a claim from the VA in a few months that will very much help out my financial situation. I plan on upgrading my membership here as well as becoming a payed member of AKTI. I'd also like to do something locally. I was thinking about buying two Emerson 7's each month (or maybe five waved Delicas) and giving them to officers in my city. Ideally the knives would go to any officer who doesn't have a knife.

I would opt for the Delica's over the Emersons. Most cops would not be able to tell the difference or need the extra quality, as they most likley do not treat knives properly. I would definitely talk to someone at the local PD first, especially in Cali since there are all sorts of funky laws.

P.S. Have you thought about sending the knives to local military forces stationed overseas?

That is an extremely nice thing to do. For different reasons, I think you should go with the Delicas (CE or SE while you're at it). While I used a CQC-7 CE for Patrol, I think the Delica or Endura would be ideal for the typical Officer.

As for knife laws in California, it doesn't matter if it's going to LE. As for you, it still doesn't matter unless you live in LA city (Or another city that has Municipal codes that has a limit on the blade length on folders). As far as the state of California, there is no blade length limit (It can literally be as long as you want, unless you're on school/College grounds & things like that).

Good luck & thank you for the LE in your city.

Pretty sure the "no length" limit only applies to non-automatic, non-gravity folding knives.

And I'm also pretty sure that you can carry folding knives of any size on UC and CSU universities, as long as it's not a fixed blade greater than 2.5".

I live in Clovis, CA which is part of Fresno county.

And after thinking about it, I think the part serrated Delica waved seems like the ideal knife.

I would'nt worry about knife laws. Its been my experience that LEO"s do not enforce knife laws on other LEO's.... ;)

good on ya for helping out an Officer or two with a great gift!

I would opt for multitools instead. pulling plates, scraping to get bike serial #s, fixing the bird's nest of wiring in the unit, etc.

I smell a troll...

Great idea of giving knives to PD and I'm sure they'll greatly appreciate it. Kudos to you
