Hey guys,

I took apart my Kershaw Chive to clean it. When I close the knife the blade scrapes against the liner,(Liner lock).. I cant seem to find the problem.. I tried adjusting the pivit screw and all.. Any Ideas? Thanks!

make sure to lubricate the part of the blade surrounding the pivot including where the liner/detent scrape the blade, this should help...also make sure the blade is 100% centered.

I've found that loosening the all of the screws enough so that they're loose, but won't fall out, and then tightly pinching the scales together while tightening them back up. This puts pressure against the liner and should center the blade.

Send it to me or kershaw to be fixed..
Seriously , I dont want it.. I would fix it though..
Matt

did you put both the washers back in, one on each side?

you can't overtighten any of the screws at all...

What usually works for me...

- I tighten the pivot screw to my preferred amount of pressure, then close the knife.

- The blade is probably favoring one side or the other. Hold the blade to the opposite side, and tighten the handle screws. When you're done the blade should be centered. If not, adjust the amount you push the blade shen you tighten the handle screws.

I hope I'm being clear. Maybe someone else will chime in with a better explanation of this method. I've used it with different models with great success. Good luck.

qqfob- Yeah I put both washers back in

Elarski- I see I think that will work, the blade is favoring one side..

Thanks for the help!

Lets us know how it turns out and good luck

and qqfob you can strip a screw if you try to over tighten it.

I've noticed the Scallions, Chives, and even the Shallot if you over tighten one of the screws along the spline the blade does not deploy properly, no matter how loose the pivot is.

Haven't stripped one yet, of course, I use the best quality Snap on Tools in all my work.
