I ordered my first khukuri! (from HI of course) This is a significantly different blade from what I usually buy, but I thought it was time for a change! I saw a cheaply made one at our neighbor's home a few days ago, and I was intrigued. So, we'll see how it goes....

Yeah, I have this slightly sinking feeling that it won't be my last one. :) As far as which one, I sprung for the Kothimoda. It's only money, right? :D

to the cantina, Mark J.

Careful, HI khuks are habit forming. You can quit smoking, but ya can't by just one khuk!

That sure is a heck of a first blade. I don't think the man intends to use it for a chopper. Fancy or not it will make a good defensive weapon.

Welcome to the Cantina. Hope you like it here.:)

A marvelous choice.

And now, you really HAVE TO get something for everyday work, right?

Then, er..maybe something a bit smaller for walks in the woods.

Then, possibly a khuk configured to handle more quickly...thinner-bladed.

You might want to ask Philthygeezer (Phil) how many khuks he has now, and how long it has taken him to accumulate them. He rationalized each and every one.

Yeah, except nowadays I just get a sugar headache and end up taking a nap. LOL I think I can safely assume the khuk won't do that to me. :)

Well, I certainly plan to use this one (use, but not abuse), just like I use other high-end knives, etc. As far as buying another, I'm mostly worried that my seven-year-old son will want one, once he sees mine. Do they make pint-sized khuks?

Some of the 12" AKs and sirupatis are pretty small (for this forum, anyway)

The Kages Katne (6" oal) is technically a "paper cutter"
but here you'll find a lot of people who just find them a good knife.

I use one, & a Bilton, as my kitchen knives 90% of the time.
Some carry them as neck knives.

Tried searching for threads, but couldn't find them.

Thanks guys. That Bilton looks like it would be about the right size. Now we'll just wait and see how long it takes before he requests one. :)

Depending on his interests:
My guess is about 2 1/2 seconds or until he can rouse himself from the initial "gawk and awe".:D

Cool "first": I'm glad you didn't make us guess!

Should be getting there any day now. Tell us what you think when you get it.
