I tried, but . . .

In BladeMan's thread "your first new knife in Y2K" I said I was going to try to hold out until at least February before buying another knife. Meant it at the time.

Yesterday, I was going through the desk drawer where I store the check book, looking for stamps. Found a $50 bill that was a present for Christmas 1998; I had forgotten all about it.

Well, I'm sure by this point that you've guessed the outcome. Best intentions shot to h*ll. The Spyder bite wins again -- plainedge Calypso Jr. lightweight on its way from M&S knives.

I was also going to try and wait until Feb. but caved yesterday and ordered 4 Spydies. Can't wait to get them.

" I feel your pain"
I have been knife buying free since November.
I broke today, ordered a Benchmade and Spyderco. I wanted to wait until atleast mid-February before buying, Oh Well.
I'll start not buying again tomorrow.

i know that, the longest free knife buying time period was 6 months, almost 3 years ago, since then i bought at least 1 knife each month... don't know why, i have beautiful knives at home but cannt resist to buy another one always always in mind that this one will the last one, not forever but for a longer time... i tried if often, and failed every time

I really screwed up. I ordered a Fallkniven WM that obviously doesn't cost much with a leather sheath and then got involved in some auctions on E-Bay (that I said I would never do again). Result: I got a Spyderco Moran Featherweight that arrived today. Super little knife. So I'm not out too much so far, until I see an ad on the Forums for a Chris Reeve Shadow IV priced very nicely. Well, a deal like this doesn't happen every day, so I should jump on it, right? It should be here tomorrow. While on the E-Bay, I went right down to the wire on a nice Spyderco. When I put in the high bid, there was 1 minute left so I figured it's in the bag. No such luck- some dirtball grabbed it for $1 more than I bid. (If you're out there, you creep, I hope you like the knife- it sure was pretty)

To compensate for the disappointment, I ordered a Wegner, Jr. from MJ&S that should be here this week. Am I losing my mind?? Stop me before I buy again.

I will buy a knife and it will become my favroite untill the next one. This goes on and on. The only cure I have found is to keep buying knifes

Some psychiatrist should examine this phenomenon. I wouldn't be surprised if we're all suffering from a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Could be worse, though...

Knave,
You may have something there. I know that I have some definite obsessive tendencies. Maybe we should start a new thread about obsessive personalities and knife ownership.
