I turned my Manix into a...Sage!

Just treated myself to an STR low rider clip for my Manix 2. I always liked how similar the blade, choil, and handle seemed to a beefy Sage, but that stock stamped clip Spyderco's been using lately was the only turn off. I don't mind the Military's exposed clip as that knife handle is 5.5" and needs to be poking out to Spydie drop and fit in pocket, but the Manix never seemed nearly long enough to need an 1"+ of knife hanging out. I really like this knife now, as it feels like a bigger, badder, pointier Sage in a new steel.

STR did an excellent and speedy job, and made this clip with out ever seeing my knife. The clip is not only lower in pocket, but you can barely feel the clip while holding the knife in hand.

Sorry about the low quality pictures, but all I have on hand is an old cell phone.

And old clip for comparison.

I'm finally a true Manix 2 believer. It's becoming one of my all time favorite Spydies now, which is great because the ergos and steel have been impressive. It rides very low in pocket and just disappears until needed now. Compared to something like a Military it's much shorter, so there was still a lot of pocket real estate going to waste.

Edit: I'm excited for the lightweight Manix 2 now, also. Just pop a replacement Sage/Caly wire clip on there and it'd be good to go. Even lighter!

I just ordered the same clip, for the same knife from Steve (STR), and he fired it out to me in the mail in a day.

He is faster than Amazon :) I can't wait to get the clip mounted up. I too have really grown to love my Manix 2 and have been carrying it every day since I bought it in the middle of October. I will post pics when the clip arrives.

Great pictures. Makes me want one.

Do you need to drill new holes or does the STR clip fit right on?

Thanks!

The Manix 2 rides pretty low in the pocket already with the standard clip (see how it is tapped at the very end of the scale), but that STR flavor is pretty sweet. I too may have to grab one.

The STR clips fit the standard holes, no drilling required.
The STR clips are a great addition to any knife, I HIGHLY recommend his work.

STR does great work, and that is a great looking Manix, it's a very well done knife.

I haven't handled the Manix but I agree with your assessments compared to the Sage and Military. If I had a Manix I'd have to get one of STR's low ride clips.
