You may remember our John Andrews' offer last week of two large electric motors free for the picking up. I was lucky enough to be the first to make a commitment. :)

John lives about 3 hours from me, which is pretty much at the outer limit of my one-day drive radius. But boy was the trip worthwhile!

You will have noticed how warm a personality John has; he's been open and helpful and friendly; and you can tell that he has carefully considered what he believes in. He comes off as a happy and honest human, someone you'd like to call "friend."

You'd be right.

John doesn't know me from Adam, but he invited me to his home to give me the two big motors. The directions he gave to find his house were impeccable; I drove right to it, in the amount of time he said I would. When I got there he greeted me with a giant warm smile and handshake and invited me in; the coffee was fresh and hot.

The next three hours passed as if they were moments; we had a fine show and tell, exchanged anecdotes, smiled like schoolboys at camp. A friend of John's dropped by; Abe is a gunsmith who also makes fantastic holsters and sheaths; I learned almost as much from Abe as I did from John. My son-in-law drove over with me. He's a good shooter and really enjoyed talking to Abe about gunsmithing and shooting.

But soon our schedule asserted itself and we had to load up to head home.

Heavens! John Andrews gave me two huge electric motors alright - but he also loaded me up with about 20 lbs of fantastic aged, thick sheds (I didn't know deer grew that big in Iowa!), a big stack of 9" disks, some precision ground knife steel, a big buffing wheel... You get the idea. My heart was almost too big to hold inside my coat, I was so pleased and filled with gratitude.

A more generous, happier and pleasant human you will be hard pressed to find anywhere. We're sure lucky to have him among us, and I'm one of the luckiest folks I know to have spent a few brief moments with him.

John, thank you.
