i would prefer a round diamond.. like .3 carat or so, and i would like to help make it.. however.. i dont even know where to start. is it feasable to make something like this myself? or better yet, under the keen oversight of a goldsmith?
thanks for your help

I looked into doing some stuff like that for fun. Didn't do it though because there are so many new tools and gadgets you need to make it turn out right. Besides it happens that gold costs more than steel :-)so if you mess up you are out a good bit of money. I designed my wife's wedding ring myself and then let a pro do it for me. Think it probably turned out better! :-)

Have you PM'd Stacy. I don't remember how far away from you he is and I don't know how busy he is this time of year but he might be your best best. I mention this as I seem to remember he offered some assistance when you did your bracelets.

I presume she was properly impressed. Congratulations and best wishes.

Chris sent me a PM. I'll get with him and see what we can do.

These questions come up all the time in my line of work. A customer says, " I have an idea for a ring(pendant, brooch, etc.) and want to do most of the work, with a little help from you.I just don't know how to do it or have any equipment. That is where I need help from you."
It is the jewelers equivalent of, " I have an idea for a knife, but have never made one. I will do the work if you will show me how."

The equipment and experience is what separates most master smiths in any trade from the noobies and wannabies. Chris is a very talented fellow, and I have no problem working with him to create the ring.
