i recently got a used emerson horseman, and i love the knife, but the finish is getting pretty worn out on it and ive been thinking about stripping the blade.id rather do it chemically, but im not sure what to use.im sure im not the first person to wanna strip their em,so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I have used a buffing wheel and mother's mag polish to remove coatings on other things before though with great results. The chemicals are a bit too harsh for me, but I've heard of people using citristrip and SOYgel strippers on blades before. Try searching the ESEE forum, there have been a few guys there who have stripped off the tough epoxy based blade coatings there.

I would just use sandpaper or find someone who can bead blast it. Otherwise, you could try some brush-on gel paint stripper from the hardware store.
