yes, the title says it all...

I have become obsessed with the Bark River Golok.

For those of you that have used and abused one of these lofty creations, I would love to hear your experience.

Even if you have never used one, any thoughts about it are appreciated.

There is a new run scheduled for this year, and I have mine preordered with bamboo handle scales. Oh yeah!

THey have changed a few things, the blade thickness is a few thousandths thinner, the steel is upgraded from 1080-C to A2 (which Mike is saying he will heat treat for more toughness)

So, whatchya think?

Great knife for chopping or clearing brush. Put a wrist lanyard on it or scruff up the handles a bit for grip. I've got a jade green g-10 one and the handles were slick!

It is not, I think, a replacement for an axe or a heavy chopping knife. Killer for brush and smaller branches (all you really need 99%), and if you have to baton wood it does very well used correctly.

They have been made out of several steels over the years. Mine is neither 1080-C nor A-2, but I can't recall what it is. 0___0
