Ok, that does it. You folks here in the Buck forum know how to make a guy really lust after a new blade.

I've had a 119 for a few years that always goes camping and fishing with me, but now after seeing some of your beautiful pictures of 110's, I've realized that I can no longer possibly live without one.

So here's the question; are all 110's created equal? I'm going to have to wait for a few weeks to buy one, since I'm going through some financial difficulties right now (having to save up cash for tendonitis surgery), but when I have the money, is a 110 from Walmart the same as a 110 from Gander Mountain? I'm sure Walmart's will be cheapest, but I'll only go that route if it's the same as the rest of them.

Thanks for the help!

Just got to wally world and ask to look at all of them. Pick the one that feels best. I have had some good knives come from them that were Buck.

Best of luck,
John

Hi Parke1,

The 110 from Wallyworld is made the same as the one from GM or any other place. The sheath from walmart will be cordura and the one from GM will be leather most likely. Post a photo when you get your 110:thumbup:

Depending on the walmart, you may find a leather sheath. But Wally usually has the best price, unless Academy or someplace like that (Gander Mt. , Bass Pro, Cabellas) runs a sale on the 110.

If in a clam pack, look for a date near the barcode, if you are looking for a particular year model. Or just to get an idea how long one has been there. Not that that matters as to the quality any.

Naturally if in a box, you can see the Date stamp.

Jump over on the Buck Knives For Sale forum... right up above this one

Great prices on the Buck's. My daughter(4yo) and mommy just bought me a 110 for my birthday this coming Friday. Got it from Dicks $35, with leather. Wally World was sold out.

I have a lot knives, this one is a classic.

If the steel is anything like my Buck Big Sky, I'll be very happy.

The blade on my Wal-mart 110 rubs the liner, but that might happen with any of them. Shouldn't, but might.

...Parke1...Just get yerself a 110...If ya need a leather sheath just let me know and I'll send ya a brand new one...You're gonna love the 110...

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. Looks like I'll be heading to Walmart relatively soon!

DarrylS, thank you so much for the gracious offer for the leather sheath! Once I get a 110 I may just have to take you up on that.

I'm currently trying to sell a Benchmade Bali that I've had for a long time on the exchange forum, so hopefully if that sells I'll be able to grab a 110.

Thanks again,

The 110 I bought at Walmart recently is my current EDC, despite the number of 110s I have that are from the Custom Shop, or blade swaps, or "vintage" from the Bay.

I wanted to see what a current standard 110 would be like, and I was curious as to the quality of those at the evil W place. It's fantastic, and with a couple strokes on the Sharpmaker's UF stones, it became really scary. I bet that knife was one of the few things sold there that day labeled "USA."

A lot more than half of a Super Wally World's sales items sold per day are still made in the USA... if you include food!

Actually, the '06 110 I bought from Academy was better than the W W - or other stores I frequent. It included a leather sheath... and was $21.99! Being in a bp, I just picked the one that has the nicest bolsters (Some were actually a bit less shiney - one, even tarnished! Storage?). I've never bought a new 110 that wasn't between shaving and scarey sharp - or had anything but a centered blade.

I did get a new 110 Ti, probably a Ti Crystal 560 (I cannot find the box!), but with a '110' blade, that has the honors of being my worst Buck - it's blade is sharp, it's just tight - as is the lock. I know how tough Ti is to machine - maybe the axle hole is just galled and slightly off (I know what it's like to be 'slightly off'...).

Well, you'll never guess what happened...

er, actually, maybe you will.

I got home from work last night, checked the mail, and lo and behold, I get a belated wedding gift from my uncle in Pittsburgh, a check for $100.

Can you see where this is going?

I told myself I was going to just put it in the bank, but then this morning, something odd happened. I was on my way to work as usual, but my truck's power steering seems to have gone haywire. The next thing I knew, I was veering into the Walmart parking lot! I must have hit my head and blacked out, because I woke up a few minutes later, sipping a cup of coffee and admiring this:

110.jpg

It's a 2006 variety. It came in a box, rather than a BP. Set me back about $27. It came with the nylon or cordura, or whatever it is, sheath. I was hoping for leather, but they didn't have any, and once I held the thing in my hand, I knew I wasn't going to wait to find one with a leather sheath.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic, I'll do it better justice later tonight.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone, I know I made the right decision here. It's odd, though, when I was at Walmart looking in the case at all the other Bucks, I have a strange feeling that I might have a few more Bucks to get...

Dick's is running a $10 rebate promotion for 110's purchased between Oct 15 and Dec 31. They seem to do this every year, in past years, they put the 110 on sale for $29.99, making the final purchase price $19.99.

GM usually runs a similar promotion about this time of year.

Well Parke1...
That is a real bummer about your truck. Good thing it messed up at a Wally World and now you have a 110. Got a feeling that you'll be blacking out there again ;)

Coold Deal Parke1, I will have to use that speal...lol....

Look at the back of that nylon sheath and see if it has the strapping where you can carry it both vertical and horizontal. If so, it is worth having!!!

I try and gather up all of those I can find.

I got one in once in some deal that was really really nasty dirty. Tossed it in with a load of my jeans and it came out really nice. Hadn't even seen the Buck in red across the bottom, it was so dirty.

Many of us are now carrying that sheath (if it can go horizontal) as it is really out of the way on the belt and doesn't drag on everything as you get in and out of a vehicle.

Oh yeah,,,,too bad there wasn't a Bass Pro when your power steering went crazy... But you are addicted now so that can be next.. :)

Funny, I keep coming back to my 110 even though I have newer, 'better' folders... hard to beat a classic, I guess.

couldn't have said it better myself. of course after a while you'll probably have to order one from buck with a hooky dooky steel and custom scales. speaking of which i need to do that myself.
