I want a knife that is built like the KA-BAR MKI (stacked handle version) but instead of the full flat grind I want a flat grind / sabot grind (please don't turn this into a difference between flat and sabot grind thread).
I want same handle material and geometry and same blade length but in a better grind.
In 1095 or something comparable.
Thanks.

Dunno if this fits your bill but,
Ontario knives has something called the P3 army quatermaster

Colonial knives has probably the edge but not the handle you seek...

The quarter master is stainless I believe and a quarter inch thick. They were designed for the quartermaster to pry open crates I believe. Way too thick for what I want.

sabot grind?

Is that an actual grind, or did autocorrect take over and was that supposed to be "saber" grind?

Check out blackjack knives. They have a lot of stacked leather models in different sizes that have the same feel that it sounds like you're going for. I believe they are all in a2 steel, with convex edges. The grind's seem to be a saber/convex on most of them, but looking at them they mostly look saber/flat.

Anyway, maybe the model 5, or 125 would appeal to you?

good luck on your search.

I was confused by that too.

How about an Ontario Pilot Survival knife? That has a stacked handle and a saber grind.

What is a sabot grind?

What is a flat grind?

Are you asking for a flat sabre grind?

Old post but I had to reply to the interweb defamation. Prying open crates? Seriously?
The Q knives are arguably the best all purpose fighting knife ever fielded by our armed forces and were most certainly not designed for opening crates. The Case 337-6"Q was saber grind 5/32 with high polish blade. A beautiful knife. You can find an excellent example on Fleabay for <$200. 75+ year old chunk of American history in 1095 steel with full tang construction and a stacked leather handle when cared for that will last at least one hundred years . And in a pinch maybe you could pound some 16p nails with it

As for your High saber grind carbon steel knife desires? Buy once cry once and get a Randall.

I went with a BlackJack 125 in A2 and stacked leather handle. I now have no need for any other knife.
