I want a manual 0301, but can't do it. 0350 vs 0200?

I have my 0301, and love it...but I tend to burn through torsion bars, and have come to HATE that "click" when they snap. I wish I had the capability to drill the detent hole on my 0301, but nah. So, I want a manual 030x. Which would you recommend- deassisted 0350 or 0200?

200 has no assist. and is a really great knife. I think if your used to a 300 the 350 will be to small for you.

You could drill a detent hole in the blade, as the bb is there in the lockbar.

Let me ask you this, DO you like to flip you knives open over and over a lot? I read that the torsion bar should last the life of the knife, but if you like to play with you knife by repetitively flipping it open, the torsion bar breaks premature.

Mark I am building up this post little by little., just wanted to make sure I was post number uno.

Yea, I know the 0200 isn't assisted.
And, yes, until I get completely comfortable with anything I tend to fiddle with it (guns, knives, cars, women...lol)

But the "click" of a tbar snapping resonates to my soul the same as a misfire on an m16. No good.

I'm seriously considering drilling for the detent, so any advice is welcome on both topics:
A) Drilling a detent on a 030x
B) 0200 vs deassisted 0350

I'd say get yourself a 0200 great knife very ergonomic, aggressive lines, good price....

I agree on the 200 if you're good with the size. It sits in the pocket better than the 30x and my 200 is much smoother than my deassisted 350. I was pretty surprised how nice it flips open.

IDK man, I keep stuff stock to keep the warrenty, but go look on the modification sub forum. Or contact some of the pimpers , and ask them how to do it.

I'm not a fan of AO so I just took out the torsion bar and drilled a small dimple in the blade of my 0300 to convert it. The blade is not that hard to drill just use a good sharp bit and center punch it first.

I do not think it would be all that hard to ask for a knife maker, heck Rival may even do it, to just drill the detent hole for you. You could try it yourself, but the hardened steel is going to be a pain to do drilling in.

You need a heavy duty drill press. Use a bit made for drilling steel at high speeds, and b careful! I dont haver a press (yet) that is tough enough for that task.

Alright, thanks guys. It looks like a 0200 is in my future. I don't think I'll be attempting to drill the detent...it sounds a bit out of my league right now. Now to convince the wife that I "need" a 0200, lol.

I really don't think that the press has to be THAT heavy duty if you go slow. Keep spraying wd-40 on it and drill a little bit at a time. I still say get a 0200 and send it to rival. You will end up with a bad*$$ knife that looks amazing :)

Just because:

I believe another forum member here (sticktodrum) had posted on youtube drilling a detent with a dremel in a press using hobby bits. It can be done but why bother, just get the 0200, its an awesome knife. I carry it more than any other, even more than my 0350
