I know BM and HK just came out with the 14716 which has some similarities to the rift.. but how cool would a 2.75"-3" reverse tanto, big belly rift blade with that melt in your hand handle!! Man oh man.. come on BKC make my day!!

we are more likely to see some kind of mini Contego than a mini Rift. The Rift has been out for quite awhile now, if there was going to be a mini version it would have been put on the market by now. The 810 Contego has been pretty darn successful from the start thus I believe a mini version of the 810 or something close to it is much more likely.

Well, they have both been out for 2+ years now.. so in all reality the likelihood is pretty minimal.. and seeing how they are both pretty similar. I'd be happy with either!!

They need to upgrade the steel on the Rift before they make a mini version of it...

Yea.. that wouldn't hurt.. but lately I haven't really been a "steel snob".. not really sure why..
Doesn't mean I wouldn't like a nice mini rift in m390!!!

No doubt.

I hope CelticCross is right about the mini contego, I'd for sure buy several ~3" versions, so long as they don't change the steel (cpm m4). Any stainless version would be a no-go for me.

If they did away with that nasty horn on the handle while they were at it I would actually buy one and keep it. Even smoothing it out the way they did when they recycled the handle on the Strykers would be an improvement.

I hate the horn too. Forces me to hold the handle farther back than I'd like. I sold my first Rift because of the horn. Bought another one later and took it to the contact wheel on my 4X36 belt sander. Quick work and the horn is gone. Much better.

 I really like the looks of the orange and black S30V model floating around too. I'm glad that I am not alone in finding the handle not comfy.

That horn fits perfectly between my ring finger and pinky. I actually like it. In fact, there isn't a whole lot I would change on the Rift except blade steel. Maybe put some lightening holes in the liners and some subtle jimping near the thumb the way MFL has modified his, but that's it.
