I'm looking for a good quality knife with an integrated clip like my Spyderco Endura:

I lost my first Spyderco Endura during a motorcycle crash (someone probably found it and pocketed it while I was having an exciting ambulance ride). Because I didn't want the newer style, I found that one years ago by searching until I found it NIB at a flea market.

I've seen cases where the newer Spyderco metal clip breaks off and takes the plastic mounting with it, and I've heard of looseness and other problems, so I'm reluctant to buy one of those. I just want something comparable, not necessarily identical, that is currently available. I'm no expert, and I want to spend my money on quality.

Any suggestions?

Can't make any recommendations, but I'm fascinated that you're looking for something with that kind of clip. That integrated clip is the number one reason I've never truly liked my Delica. I've almost lost it so many times it's not funny, and it's *because* of that clip. I've read threads elsewhere where people talked about the integrated clips on those knives breaking off and others just plain losing the knife because the clip really has no grip. I've seen copies of that clip on cheap Chinese knives recently and I couldn't understand why anyone would copy that, of all things. If anyone else is making quality knives with that kind of clip, I hope they're doing it better because those integrated things are the weak point of those early Delicas and Enduras, IMO. I hope that didn't come off like a rant. I didn't mean it that way.

I've had an integrated clip break on both a Spyderco and a Cold Steel Voyager in the past. I only have one knife left with one of them, an old Spyderco Harpy. It won't get broken because I never carry it, my fascination with hawkbill blades having ended years ago. I am not sure any companies even offer integrated clips any more, except El Cheapo chinese imitation knives.

Cold Steel actually upgraded to the metal clip years ago. In their catalog they said it was so it wouldn't break off like the plastic integrated clips were doing.

Knives with intagrated clips are getting rare these days. That said, allow me to recommend a really useful knife for everyday carry.

That knife is the "camillus" wildfire. This knife is one of the newer "assisted" knives that really make it super handy. IMO it has all the right stuff from the blade steel (AUS-8) down to the feel in the hand.

I could go on and on about this knife but it's better that one be bought (they're only $25) to really appreciate this knife.

Both the SOG Flash 2 and many of the Mcusta knives have clips that are integral to the design of the knife and won't loosen up. There are still some of the Browning Ice Storm knives floating around out there which are Mcusta designs and are VG-10 steel.

I am unsure of your price range, but Mcusta makes knives with an integral pocket clip. They actually bend part of the frame over and it acts as the clip. Doesn't get much more permanent and sturdy than that. Give them a quick google search, look at the photos and you'll see what I mean. I have one and think it is a great knife. Wood handle covers, nicely centered vg-10 blade clad in laminated stainless, with an action as smooth as silk.

As for the clip loosening, it is an easy fix. When you get a new knife, remove the screws one-at-a-time, and re-install them with a dab of blue Loctite. They'll never come loose again. This is pretty much SOP for me.

From the Mcusta knives I've owned, the clips are nice, but they have very little clearance under the clip and thus have trouble clipping to thick fabric.
Maybe it's because I've only owned ones with the contoured wooden handles; I bet the ones with smooth scales would fare better in this regard.

Also, see if the type of clip on the CRKT Swindle is your cup of tea.
