I have been a member here for a while but never posted much. Several years ago I paid over $300.00 for a Micro-Tech Ultratech auto. I really appreciate the quality of the knife and the cool factor is definatly there. After getting that knife I decided that it was just not made to be an everyday knife. I carry it from time to time as a kind of back up weapon. I normally don't carry a knife at all but I have been looking at the Sebenza for years online. I have never handled one. I have decided I want one though. I am a plain clothes investigator and I think the small sebenza would probably be the best fit for me. Feel free to advise me and talk me into this buy.

i too prefer the small. i would actually really enjoy something between a large and a small

Many folks that buy a Sebbe really don't need to be talked into it, because it's reputation is authentic and well known. I suspect that we won't need to talk you into a Sebbe either, as I venture to say that the purchase is a forgone conclusion and we're at the phase now of trying to help you decide which Sebbe is right for you.

As a staring point, I would suggest handling both a Small & Large. The small is actually a bit too small for me and I have average size hands. Once you've determined a Small or Large, then it's a matter of which design is most visually appealing to you. Plain, computer generated or unique graphic or perhaps a micarta, bone or wood inlay.

If you can't actually handle any CRKs in your area, I would suggest that you buy a small plain. If you later determine that a large would be more comfortable, then at least you already have the small in your collection and it can be a great back-up as you wait for your large to return from a scheduled spa treatment.

The small is very easy to open, close and control but the large offers a better grip and more cutting edge.

You've made your mind up already, even if you don't know it;)

Whatever size or style of Sebenza you get, you'll love it. I envy you for that first Sebenza feeling your about to have. Nothing like it:thumbup:

Placed order today. Ordered a Small plain Sebenza 21. Got the cheapest shipping so it will be here sometime.

I have both. The large is, well... large. It's definitely more useful, especially for cutting food and for tasks requiring heavy gripping. I had a small only for a while and I was surprised at how well it accomplished my everyday tasks. If you have to, it can do some serious cutting. I had to hack (carefully) through some 1/2 inch apple tree branches the other day and the small handled it just fine. As a general rule, I carry the large when I know I'm going to need a bigger blade, and for the rest of the time I'm very happy with the small. It carries quite a bit more comfortably IMO, and is enough blade for most purposes. Since you don't usually carry a knife, I'd say you should go with the small.

I've had 5 or 6 large and 3 small Sebbies within the last six months or so. Two of the three small ones are gone. I expect to "gift" the remaining small one with wood inlay. Also, I have three large Sebbies and one Umnumzaan remaining. I have certainly tried both sizes, and I prefer the large as the handle fits my hand size better. The Zaan was my first CRK and remains my favorite and my EDC. They're all great; mostly just personal preference.

Got it today and i do get it. This is a really nice knife. I went with the small sebenza 21. Removed the string immediately. Wow this thing is sweet. Good size for me too. Will try to post a pic later.

Well I took a pic. Not a real good one I had to take it with my cell phone. Picked up a Bradley Kimura V today too.
