would like suggestions on a 5 inch blade drop point $600 tops

$200 would make my day :D

anyone have any suggestions for me

Boy, you've certainly got some room to play with a $600 ceiling. I'm pretty sure most of the ABS guys can make you a knife at that price range.

Take a look at the for sale by makers forum, there are quite a few great makers in the $200 range; Winston, Williams, Krein, Denning (for a little more)...

Long Rifle is right. Most ABS JS and most MS makers make knives in that range. I am a new MS and I know that most of the guys (and gals) who are rated smiths, and even some world class makers will make a very nice knife for your $600. There are a few iconic level makers who don't make knives in that price range but they are few. Since I can't post photos, here are 2 links to my web site just for reference.

These knives go for $150

And this one would be about $700

Between those two you can obviously get quite a lot of knife.

Vodoo,

Can't find a maker for that knife? You gotta be kidding, bro - the list of makers that could meet your knife and budget requirements is long and distinguished. You just missed a seriously awesome Burt Foster forged integral hunter / utility that he had available on his site for well within your target budget. Your problem won't be finding a maker, but deciding on just one. ;)

True, I have seen hundreds of knives that fit the bill, but cant "pull the trigger" cause I want the one that is pefect to look at and use.

I just need to find them on the web

I suggest looking at all the major dealers to see what's currently available then get to one of the major knife shows and handleing the makers knives you are interested in.

You given any thought to a Bob Dozier knife? From your description his prices should make your day.

I can't think of to many makers that can't fit your requirments for a fixed blade and your budget into a wonderful knife you could be proud of.

The question is:
Which would you prefer?
An established maker like Fisk or Williams, or a younger and less established maker like Nick Wheeler or Bret Gatlen? Or find someone that will make you a unique "True Custom" knife that has your specific needs and requirments as it's focal point.

My friend, you got some thinking to do.

I do not believe that you have looked very hard, my friend! There are MANY excellent makers out there in your established price range. If the knife you desire is not pictured than describe what you want in detail to your knifemaker of choice and ask for a quote. I am certain that your requirements can be met by any number of qualified bladesmiths. ---Sandy---

My humble suggestion would be to speak with Ray Rogers before you make your final decision. I just recently received a custom Drop point hunter from Ray and it is awsome. www.rayrogers.com if I am not mistaken. I did have to wait a bit more than a year for the set of knives I had him make for me but they are exactly as I wanted and work well when used.
