i need y'all to throw a sales pitch at me on which model to buy and why :)

I like the tenacious i also like the resilience but again i'll need a reason why

Those are two great knives for that price range, they take a very nice edge. If your looking to spent a little more I would recommend the paramilitary 2.

If you could afford a little more, my EDC is a sage 2. It's simplicity and ergonomics are perfect for me. A close second is the paramilitary 2 if you want something a little bigger.

To answer that, we need to know why you want a knife.

There are many answers, each depends on many questions

If there are legal restrictions on your knives
If you want safe queen as an investment
If you want a cheap knife
If you want a gentleman's knife
If you want a working knife
If you want a rust-proof knife
If you can't sharpen a blade
If you have a tight budget
If you have a moderate budget
If you have an unlimited budget

What is your budget and what are the intended uses for the knife? We can throw all kinds of personal favorite recommendations at you, but it would help if we knew more about your wants/needs. What do you like about the Tenacious and Resiliance? Personally I like the looks of both, but strongly prefer the the function of some of Spyderco's alternatives.

For the money i spent on the tenacious i would rather not spend 3 times that amount like they want you(not that those aren't great knives, they are) to but get a Delica or endura ffg, great steel that easy to sharpen damn near impossible to rust out, solid construction, and lightweight, and your choice of colors.

Well after many hours of drool and stars in my eyes from watching YouTube videos i just bought the tanacious and resilience:thumbup: w00t~[^_^]~w00t

Congrats. Those will be just the start of your Spyderco journey.

You will be buying more. :D

If you ever get to fondle a Para 2, do it! For me, it's as close to a perfect EDC as I've found. And they hold their value very well. You could get one used here, carry it for a while, then sell it for almost what you paid. As long as you don't build a log cabin with it or something :)

That's how it started with me... Resilience, then Tenacious...now I have 3 Para Military2s (& looking for 4th) and a Dragonfly2 G10. And i am sure i will end up with more... It happens....;)

Para 2 was my first Spyderco and it made me a fan of the brand for sure. It bumped my ZT 0350 down to 2nd place as far as my favorite edc knife.

What's weird is it seems like all the spydercos are the same....i mean to me they all look a like only thing different is the give price difference.

I had a couple of the cheaper Spydercos that I really just never cared for much. One being a FFG Delica 4. I just couldn't get used to the lock back and it wasn't as refined as the Para 2. I love the compression lock on the Para 2 and other knives that Spyderco uses that lock setup on. So easy to use one handed. Maybe not as strong as a good thick ZT liner lock but for edc use it doesn't get much better in my opinion and is plenty strong for edc stuff. I also hated the FRN handle scales compred to g10 scales. I would really like to try out a FFG Manix 2 one of these days. Looks to be a great knife also. Have you ever handled a Spyderco knife yet? The spidy hole is really nice and once you get used to it I think you'll love it. Spyderco is the reason I kinda got away from buying assisted opening knives. They just don't compare to a nice smooth manual opener like the Para 2.

No i have never seen or touched a.spyderco in person. I did print.one out and cut along the.lines lol jk
Is there somewhere locally i can handle one try it out ? My spyderco resilience will be here by next week but it would be nice to go to a store and handle one. I live in Ventura,Ca
I kinda regret spending almost $50 on this sog flash2 black tanto i really dont like how or feels or operation feels cheap...:(

The Tenacious and Resilience are great first Spyderco knives. Especially if you're on a budget.
I've owned the Persistence, Tenacious, and Resilience.
8cr13mov is really a decent steel that doesn't get a lot of love.
For a cheaper steel, it's pretty wear resistant, holds an edge for a decent amount of time, and sharpens up easily.

Not all Spyderco's are the same at all. You have to own a few to realize that there are several differences, Blade Steel, Lock, Materials, Handle Shapes, Blade Shapes, Size, Price, Etc.
Plus fit and finish just continues to get better and better. Though I've never owned a Spyderco that was really lacking in that area.

I suggest you go a little higher in price on your next Spyderco because you will want another lol. You'll notice differences. The Chokwe was mentioned - This was my EDC for a LONG time and I still have it. It's an excellent knife for all around EDC. The Paramilitary 2 is also a great knife with its unique locking system and materials and overall fit and finish. Another to consider would be the Spyderco Manix 2.

But that's for the future.
You'll love your first Spydies!

Just a quick Fyi, the compression lock is FAR stronger than most any liner lock, regardless of manufacturer. The compression lock has more in common with the axis and triad locks than it does a liner lock in that it wedges a piece of steel between the blade tang and the stop pin. In order for the compression lock to fail you would need to either crush the steel tab (highly unlikely and even then, the knife would probably not close) or shear the stop pin through both g10 slabs and both steel liners. The compression lock is among the strongest on the market, really second only to the triad lock.

Honestly, I don't understand the need for a locking mechanism that could lift a Mack truck. Who in the world during normal use of a folding knife puts enough stress on the SPINE to defeat the locking mechanism? I see the arguements all the time, and other than intellectual curiosity, I really don't see the point of it. I'm not going to jam my knife into a tree and do chin-ups for goodness sake. People got by for centuries with NO locking mechanism. I think that if anybody needs that kind of strength, they need a fixed blade. That said, I DO enjoy the different kinds of locking mechanisms myself. LOL I guess out of intellectual curiosity :D

I know the spine lock is stronger but its hard for me to use with one hand.

I'm different, my fav Spyderco edc is the Yojimbo 2. At first there were rumors of some production issues in some blades but I believe everything has been worked out. Mine came perfect from the factory. Same lock as the pm2, I personally love the ergs, and it's s30v. It's worth every penny of the $100 I spent imo. I've been carrying it for ~7 months now and my other 8 spydercos just sit on my dresser, including my pm2. Don't let the SD advertising fool you, this knife is an excellent edc.
