Not sure what I would do with it, but I want one! I keep trying to talk myself into it, then I think a hatchet that I already have is still going to be a better chopper. I have an esee 6 that is nice, but really don't use that much either. I think it's the "one tool that can do everything" appeal. Not sure how well that works in the real world though.

One thing I have learned about knives - if it is WANT and not NEED, just wait a few weeks and you will want something else.

(Junglas is a very nice want, BTW!)

Like Eric said you may find you want something else in a few weeks but it can go the other way and become a little something gnawing away at the back of your mind that won't go away. I don't know how many knives I have purchased over the years because I had an "itch" that just wouldn't go away. The Junglas is a good choice IMO and from what I've seen if you purchase wisely and decide it isn't what you want you can resell with very little if any loss.

Take happiness in life were you find it. If you no longer feel it later, move on.

Here are your options as I see it: You could spend 170 on the Junglas, or you could spend 70 on the RTAK II and 100 on other knives (maybe a new Endura 4?). Either way, I got the junglas, and have no regrets, though it is nearly identical to the RTAK.
My 2 cents.

I have developed the itch for a larger fixed blade like the RTAK II/Junglas. I have also been looking at the BK7 and 9...RAT 7 and RD7

The Junglas is a superb big knife. It chops well, limbs well, etc. It's like a 6 that turned into a monster. If you've got extra cash for toys, I'd say watch the exchanges and try to grab a used one for awhile. If you can, it'll be a good user and can likely be sold for what you paid if it doesn't work out.

While it's a best of the breed IMHO (yes, there are fancier steels and handles, but it can work with the best of them), Jeff Randall would tell you to get a good machete for actual work. The Junglas gives better steel/HT and one of the best sheaths available, but a $15 machete will likely get your work done, but not in style, as a Junglas would. Either way, good luck.

Life is all about fulfilling our dreams. Go for it. I personally have been very comfortable with the Condor choppers. I seldom use a big knife, but I do use a machete.

you might wanna handle the knife before deciding. the handle and balance feel very different for the 3 big blades , junglas, rtak 2 and bk9

I personally prefer the weight and feel of bk9 and hoodlum. but the junglas is a mighty fine blade

It happens. I had to have a BK9 recently and got one. Still hasn't left the house. Just comes out to be fondled every once in a while.

Still fun to own and when my boy gets a little older it will come in handy when we start taking camping trips.

Get it, the Junglas is definitely the best production chopper I've ever used, and it's not terribly expensive either.

I have one, and keep it lashed to the front rack of my ATV for clearing brush in the woods. Works great, and is very comfortable in my hand.

I've owned and used all of the above mentioned knives, but, for efficiency and getting the job done it really is hard to beat a good machete. If it's a bigger job then it's probably a job for an axe or hatchet...just my two centavos.

ESEE 6 has always felt like a knife thats too big to do fine tasks, but too small to be a effective chopper. Its why I like my Junglas, it takes care of pretty much everything I need it to do, but I still bring a small blade so I can do the finer tasks that the Junglas isn't as well suited for.

Refer to the thread below... It is an interesting read on the Junglas from a few years ago.
