I want an ESEE

I am wanting to get an ESEE 4 not an RC-4. On the ESEE knives interweb dealers page, allot of the dealers are advertising the ESEE knives as Rat/ ESEE RC-4s and that's where my question is. How (where) do I know that I'm getting a serial numbered ESEE and not some Ontario?

Im needing a new EDC fixed blade and it looks like the ESEE 4 fits what I'm looking for perfectly. It will be my first ESEE. I'd like to order it soon so I figured this would be the best place to ask. In researching them, it seem hard to find someone to say something bad about them.

Also if you would like to show off your kick awesome ESEE 4 to a first time Blade Forum poster, feel free. <NEWB :)

An rc4 is the same as an esee 4 it's not an Ontario ! Rat cutlery is the same as esee, they changed their name last year !

RC knives and ESEE knives are one in the same, and yes ESEE will honor the warranty on the older RAT cutlery knives.

welcome to the forums!

The Ontario line is signified by the model numbers begining with "RAT". The old Rat Cutlery (now ESEE) is signified by models "RC". Since last year all ESSE models are denoted by that model nomen.

There it is. The RAT is from Ontario an the RC- and ESEE are the same. That is what I have confused.

Good to know if I do end up with a RC-4 and whack it too hard, ESEE will still be cool warranting the knife. Thanks guys!

yes they will

And it won't be your last...

Starting with ESEE is a wise choice, and a choice that unfortunately not all of us made. I bought many knives before I found ESEE, and there are few companies that compare.

I have an Izula and a Junglas, and I can't wait to get my hands on some of the medium sized models.

Put up some pics when you get it!

Good analysis. My first gun was a double Browning Belgium over under 26" 12 gauge. I used it for cays and peasant/ bird hunting. It was stolen out of my parents house when I was living at home in high school. It was my grandfathers. I would love to replace it but it just wouldn't be the same. That and the price on them is around $4k.

I has a thick heavy safe now.

I know peasants were considered fair game in Europe in the Dark and Middle Ages, I had no idea the practice made its way over ocean and time to the good ol' US of A. Is a special license required to hunt peasants? There are some here that should probably be culled from the herd before they inflict themselves on the next generation. Welcome to ESEE.

Good choice for an EDC. I originally got mine with no intention of EDC, just camp stuff, but it hasn't left my belt since I got it. It conceals surprisingly well.

The Izula still stays in my pocket though. :D

Lic is $34.95 and you need to get the upland game peasent stamp for $12. Besides for that all you need is a good dog to flush them out. And help spot and retrieve the wounded ones. If you don't have a dog to spot the wounded peasants, they could run for miles and you could loose it. Couple hunting buddies of mine and I belong to a peasant hunting club. It's nice to have privet property to hunt the peasants on. Most all in this area are wild peasants. You might find a planted peasant from a neighboring club. But that's ok. They usually have just a little more meat on them. They taste the same.

I was skypeing a buddy stationed near Souel last night when I seemed to to have a typo and fialed to correct it.

IIRC, not all the knives are serial numbered, and some people seem to confuse the heat treat batch date with a serial number.

Izulas are serial numbered.

Remember, us peasants are people too.

the RAT RC's and the ESEEs are the same model with a different stamp-same company same manufacturer but there was a name change recently. Ontario RAT-4s are different than the RC-4/ESEE-4, and are marketed as such.

Well it turns out you are wanting one of the best blades made. Smart guy! I'm gonna bet after you use it, just like most of us here, you WILL want more. Welcome and enjoy edgy

Some people might disagree with you about me being smart. I do hope I am picking the right knife.

I am going to post a knife for sale here, then order my ESEE-4. :)

Guess I will have to list my blade for sale elsewhere. I'm still a freeloader.
