I want one of these...

You must have wrists like tree trunks, cool gun!

I shot a friend's .454 Casull, it wasn't the most pleasant Gun to shoot. That .500 has got to be Painful to Shoot.

Cool Gun though. :)

Interesting article. The part about wearing a helmet is hilarious.

I got a chance to shoot one of the 8 3/8" barreled .500 S&W revolvers once ... just a couple of shots. It was a lot of fun. It had a substantial kick to it, but it was not painful or unpleasant ... at least not for two shots. I could see a 5" model being fun to shoot, with the biggest pain being in the wallet area.

I was shooting reasonably accurately to about 100 yards for these shots, my first with this gun.

Clint Smith tells stories in Am Handgunner of taking the small S&W 500 to his classes. Just to mess with the good shooters on the line. ROTFL!

That might just be the perfect carry gun for up this way.
Been eyeing that one for a while now but just can't bring myself to drop that much cash on a handgun.
For now my Rossi model 92 in 454 Casull will have to be with me as I wander about this little state.

That's pretty sweet, but I'd only need to shoot one once or twice at the range and I'd be satisfied.

I shot my first "handgun deer" with a .500 S&W this past season. Garth was with me at the time and we were both amazed at how massive the wound channel was from this bad boy!!!! It has much less recoil than a 454 casull and feels lighter than a hot loaded 44 mag.

That John Ross special edition looks pretty darned cool ! ! ! !

I have shot the .454 with full house loads and shot several boxes in one sitting. The web of my hand was rubbed a bit, and sore.

I like that gun. I think if I was to go for a mega revolver like that, I would have to pick the .460 S&W. It is a real flat shooter, with so much versatility. Rifle ballistics with the pointy rounds. But you can shoot .460's, .454's, and plain old .45 Colt's through it. Lots of boom when you want it, with really good trajectory, and cheaper plinker when you want.

I have no problem shooting my titanium ariweight .357 SW 340PD, in fact I enjoy shooting it with .357's. But .44 mag and bigger has never appealed to me. :D

Mulder, we have the same rifle (although mine says Puma on it.) I hvae the 16" stainless version in 454 with the Hi-viz fiber optic sights. I got it to compliment the Super Redhawk 454 I have now that always graces my shoulder when I'm out and about. I find the kick on it to be manageable but I understand the S&W .460 is even better due to being a heavier handgun with a compensator. Happy with what I have though.

These 500's are fun :D

Hmm. Now this is interesting info. That light, eh??;)

That's soo sweet! I shot the 460 with one hand....and was barely able to hold on :p I like both of those guns....I'll probably end up getting a 460 sooner or later though because of the ability to shoot 3 different rounds.

I have shot a .454 Casull and it kicks like a mule. The .50 AE is tame compared to this beast. The .500 shot with a wheel gun has to be painful, I agree. The revolver has no mechanism to help absorb some of the recoil.
