I've been intrigued lately by some of the smaller Busse/Swamp Rat designs. I've had a couple of Busses a few years back, but my experience with them was limited to just collecting and not using. I didn't really buy (and still don't) into all the hype, but I can't deny that I'm "smitten" with their <5" blade designs.

They'd seem to be a relatively user friendly/practical knife unlike some of the humongous offerings.

Attached are a few pics. I wouldn't mind picking one up in the 4-4.5" blade range.

Any opinions? Anyone own one like it?

Thanks.

Yes ... I have a number of each of those. The top pic is the Orange handled Busse Game Warden, one of the thinnest and most hoarded of the Wardens. The bottom is a lovely Hairy Carry, a Swamp Rat design.

You should also look at the Active Duties and Leaner Meaners on the Busse side, given your size preference. I believe the Busse Company Store is still offering a thin version of the Active Duty (the BAD or Boney Active Duty) right now.

I agree that they make excellent EDCs. Whenever I can get away with a fixed blade, it's always one of the Busse group.

Must be the angle of the knife in the first pic, almost looks like an Active Duty blade profile. That would make for a sweet EDC, Active Duty with the but ground off like a GW.

Too true. Of course, if there WAS such a knife, I'd already have it. :);)

It's a GW.

Yep, I thought I remembered seeing one somewhere like that- Thanks for the link dobywon!

Sufler, welcome to BladeForums, and welcome to the Busse forum.

Please be sure to follow BladeForums rules and guidelines by posting requests to buy in the appropriate forum in the Exchange. Doing otherwise is not advised.

To that end, I hope you're asking for peoples opinions about the models shown in your post.

The Game Warden is a handy smaller blade, with plenty of belly and cutting surface.

The Hairy Carry is a Swamp Rat offering. Have not used mine yet, so can only say it is a very nimble feeling blade, the grip seeming very good for cutting, slicing, or "detail" work.

I hope that once you start using them, the "hype" as you say will prove to be less extravagant exaggerations, and shown as factual testimonials.

Good luck on your quest.

Grab a Boney ACtive Duty on the company store site while you still can... it's an outstanding small and useful Busse blade! And then, look around for a Game Warden to keep it company. :)

Stay sharp,

The designs are all great, ergonomics and aesthetics, but the true performance of INFI is in the big choppers. Get a good hatchet (Eastwing in my experience), a HI khukri and a big Busse (battle m-fing mistress) and prepare yourself to say "Holy Sh*t!" INFI destroys the competition. Shave paper, chop a pile of fire wood, and still shave. The khukri is rolled and the hatchet won't/can't shave in the first place and can't chop as well either. Naysayers are haters...
