I've been searching in the archives but i didn't find what i wanted.

I plan to buy a LED flashlight for country house/camping/field use.

So which one is the best? Inova X5? Arc?????
Moreover, as i'm French, i'm not sure i'll be able to find these brands in France. But do you have any pros and cons????

I'd suggest that you pay a visit to www.candlepowerforums.com, there are loads and loads of information there regarding anything that lights up.

But be warned, some have developed a liking to anything with an edge on this forum. And after you visit that one you'll develop a liking to anything that emits light!

I have an Inova and an Arc LS, but I would recommend a Minimag conversion using the BadBoy400 or 500 from the Sandwich Shop

Get a glass lens and a Kroll tailswitch with it. The advantage is that you get similar light to the LS (and better than the Inova); you can use inexpensive AA batteries instead of CR123's, and if you bash up your flashlight, you can re-install the guts in a new minimag for $10 and start over. Another nice choice (though a bit larger) is the 3-AA LGI by Mr. Bulk. They can be difficult to find. Go here and learn...

For a small light, check out one of the Princeton Tec lights -- small, inexpensive, and good quality. For a larger light. check out the C.Crane Companies flashlights. I've got a Expedition 7 and an Expedition 19. Both are fantastic lights, and I've abused them alot in various caves. :D

Firsr place is ARC!!!!!!!!!

Far back second place probably CMG

If you think your up to it then Beemerphile
idea is a good one, especially since you are not in the US

The Streamlight ProPolymer 4AA 7 LED is an excellent light. I'm a firefighter and have found it invaluable.
Also consider Opalec NewBeam and Inretech conversions for the minimag.

My experience with the Inova 5x has not been positive: two of the three I bought had flickering problems. My next LED flashlight will be a Princeton Tec. I'm still undecided between the Impact and the Attitude.

Mandragore, if you want to get your first taste of a very bright and sturdy LED light at a reasonable price, the Inova X5T is an excellent choice. I own 3 Inovas and have been very pleased with each of them. If you would like something brighter and don't mind the higher price, then the Arc LS is the thing to get.

If you wish to buy an inexpensive LED light, then may I suggest the Princeton Tec Attitude. It runs off of 4 AAA alkaline cells and can be found under $20US. The Attitude has a plastic body and comes in a variety of translucent colours..

If you want something smaller to hang aroung your neck or to attach to your keyring, then the Arc AAA is a must.

If you want to read some good reviews on several LED lights, check out The Light Site and be sure to visit www.candlepowerforums.com where all sorts of lights are discussed about.

I have both the Streamlight 7led and the PT Attitude. Both are excellent lights that are durable and reliable. The Streamlight is a little bigger and can be operated completely one handed. The Attitude is a little smaller but takes 2 hands to operate. With either one you can rest assured you are getting a good light.

As I've stated before, price is no longer a concern with LED flashlights. My carry is a Dorcy 200 hour flashlight; 12 bucks at Sears, WITH the batteries. It's like 'day.'

My wife did even better. She paid less than 5, I think even though she had to buy batteries. She used it to guide herself and a few roomates out of a minor smoky fire in a Vegas hotel. She said it really cut the smoke and they quickly found exits.
