I am looking to reserve a Lrg Mike Obenauf model 2 framelock.. Im just wondering if anyone has experience with this knife... I just want to know if it is pretty rugged, and comfortable.. And pics would be great...

This will be my first custom.. so i want to get it right..

I've never seen one that wasn't real nice.......he had a GREAT teacher!

Never owned a model 2 but I have/had a couple Model 3's and 4's and they are very well put together. The only issue I've ever had with an Obenauf was the lock locked so hard I had to use a popsicle stick to dis engage it. Which worked out with use.

I'm not sure how any warranty work will happen now that Mike is out of knives though. Something to think about.

Oilman..
I did not know he is out of knives now... For me... warrenty is very important.. as i want to use whichever knife i buy as a EDC... Not only that... For me.. this is an decent investment.. So i want to make it right...

I guess i should just get a Lrg regular sebbie or Strider SNG... It would re-sell instantly if i dont like it.... Plus warranty is top notch im sure....

He had posted a thread over at CK&G a month or two ago saying he was done due to money issues IIRC. I haven't heard anything since then about it though so I'm not sure what would happen if you needed any work done. I've never had to send any of mine back other than the sticky one though although I've never beat mine up enough to need a refurb either. So YMMV.

Thank you...
Any other recommendations for a strong frame lock folder...

If you've never had one the Sebbie and SnG/SMF are a good place to start production wize. Of the two/three I prefer a recurve SMF because of the high flat grind and the recurve option. But it is a big knife. If you're wanting something smaller the SnG it nice too. If you can, handle them first to make sure it's something you really like. If you can't and end up not liking them at least you won't lose much reselling them like you said though.
