I would like to buy a hydralic press. I know there are plans to build...but I can't weld very well, everything I build costs 2X what it should, takes 2X as long as it should....blah, blah, blah. Ron Claiborne builds an excellent press...but from reading his last note a few weeks ago..perhaps he is not taking any more orders. Who else builds a good press at a reasonable price? I think there is a man in Great Falls, Montana. Anyone else? Thanks

I think Bowie is still taking orders.....call him. He's working in the shop making presses every day. He's just gone offline for a while to save the $$.

The guy in Montana is Jeff Carlisle. You can get his number at Don Fogg's website.

Hi John.

I just spoke to Ron this morning and mentioned this thread.
He asked me to tell you that he is still taking orders for presses.

You can call him on 1 865 660 1569.

Thanks.

Kevin.

I just spoke with Ron, too! He sounds healthy, busy, and happy! Phyllis smacked him upside the head and taught him how to use his VoiceMail. If he doesn't answer, please leave a message. He's often working in too much noise to hear the phone.

He wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy 2006!

Thanks Kevin: I spoke with Ron today and ordered a press to be picked up in April. He simply could not be a nicer man to speak with on the phone. Thanks again.
John Lloyd

John...are u gonna pick it up in person?

If you are close I recommend it....Ron is an excellent teacher!

I'm real happy you and Bowie were able to hook up, John L. He makes a fine machine and gives each one meticulous attention.

And I agree about how nice a person he is. I think that is what they mean by "Southern Gentleman" in modern terms.

Enjoy your press!!

Greg..I will pick up in person. Raymond....I have several fire extinguishers strategically placed. No fires here....I hope.

Plan on (if Bowie asks) spending a couple days to learn from him. Even now while making a billet I can hear Ron say "just when it looks ready to weld....sit back and drink a little more coffee"

Greg: I'll try to sit back and drink a little coffeee with Ron. Perhaps I can even learn a little from him....as I know virtually nothing now about squishin steel.

Well, you picked on heck of a guy to buy and learn to use from. Ron's kinda my mentor right now. He's a fantastic teacher. Time spent with him looking over your shoulder is never wasted.

I remember in former SEAL TEAM 6 Commander Richard Marcinko's book "Rogue Warrior" ...Demo Dick said he learned alot from an old timer PBR boat captain...a real experienced guy he called his "Sea Daddy". The thoroughly recommended finding some with oodles of experience to advise and teach you.

I consider Ron my "Damascus Daddy"....a friend, and the go-to guy whenever something perplexes me.
