Friend died Wednesday or Thursday, had viewing Friday evening and funeral Saturday. Couldn't cancel the Saturday trip but went to the Friday viewing. I got there 5 minutes before it ended, and my name was #5 in the book. Did not seem right for so few.

In addition, the viewing just didn't seem right. An empty shell with the soul gone.

Drove by on the way out of town next day and parking lot was full - any more and they'd be parking all up and down the street. Felt much better.

Anyway, in some ways I was to him like George Burns to Jack Benny - all Burns had to do was look and Jack and he'd start cracking up. Same for me and Harlan. All I had to do was walk in and he'd start giggling. So here's to you, Harlan Sharp, wish I'd got you with this one before you went.

I want to go simply, when I go

:p :p :p

Sorry to hear about your friend. All I know is that when my time is near, I want a 'good' friend to care for whatever best 4-legged buddy I have at the time. I have planned to leave some ready cash so I can buy everyone who shows up at my funeral a few drinks & reminisce about the good ole times!;) Then I hope to go where all my past 4-legged buddies are!

I'm sorry, Rusty. I was at a friend's father's viewing last week, he'd had a sudden heart attack. It was better than a long illness even if no one was prepared.
