Review: Buck 119BR is one of the best hunting knives if you are a hunter. If youre not, it is definitely ok! The Buck 119BR hunting knife looks like an art in general, but you should not be lured by its appearance. This is a very dangerous knife.
Buck 119BR is not only an awesome hunting knife, its also one of the best survival knife I ever bought. My first impression about Buck 119BR is its a beautiful knife. It somehow has got some elegant features. Compare to other survival knives in my hands, Buck 119BR is not the strongest one. Its a razor sharp out of the box with a dangerous clip point knife. Its not a barbarian muscular style, its an assassin style! This Buck knife looks almost too good to actually use, but it is, of course, a fully functional fixed blade knife. The combination of brass, black and wood grain is very nice!
Buck 119BR is an American knife manufacturer started in San Diego, California and at the moment located Post Falls, Idaho. The company includes a long background through five generations of the Buck family unit from 1902 to the current day. Buck Kitchen knives primarily companies sport as well as field knives. It is credited along with inventing the actual "Folding hunting knife". It is very much popular and the term "buck knife" is becoming synonymous along with folding lock back knife including those produced by other producers. I bought Buck 119BR for my camping trips. It has got a classic design and is executed perfectly. The 420HC stainless blade of the knife is extremely sharp. It won't rust and will endure many game cuttings with no need to hone. The blade measures 6 inch and has a clip point. It is a classic design and it is executed flawlessly. I always love knives with a classic clip point. Clip point is perfect for hunting and fighting and stabbing since the shape enables a really sharp as well as pointed suggestion.
I've also seen other reviews that did thorough testing of the blade for corrosion resistance, and they rate it as excellent. I personally think we should not hard test this knife. I avoided Buck 119BR from batoning woods, chopping branches of trees or heavy duty tasks because I think theyre out of the knife design. Instead, Buck 119BR is extremely excellent in fishing, hunting, cutting, digging, and even fighting. Look like a work of art, the handle just fit in my hand for skillful, speedy tasks. The guard and pommel are polished brass, and the handle is Cocobolo wood which gives it a warm and classic look. I usually used Buck 119BR knife for hunting food sources in survival trips if I have to. With the razor sharp blade and dangerous clip point, its very hard to miss a kill.
I remember one day in September, I stayed in a Thailand forest with 2 guys for 4 days. Theyre local who helps me with my business as well as translate native language with officers if needed. We were all hungry and out of food. I was in a mood of hunting anything eatable. Hold Buck 119BR knife in hand and Kabar D2 Extreme Fighting knife in the backpack, I tried my luck of finding some protein in wild. We separated to each other to increase the chance of hunting campaign. I went to a river because I knew there're a lot of food source near alongside the water. With my Buck 119BR in hand, I tried searching around. About 20 meters away from my feet it laid a wild cobra. I usually said there is not so many wild animals in South East Asia for hunting anymore - Except for snakes and catfishes. As spotting dangerous animal I silently found a long bamboo stick, then silently closed the distance. I used the stick to control the reptile's head. My Buck 119BR help me to do remained hard work. We had got a decent dinner that day. But let I tell you this: if you are not in necessary situations please don't do that. This is a dangerous game which prey becomes predator in a glance. If you have to do, please play teamwork.

Buck 119BR is a full-tang knife, meaning that the blade goes all the way through the handle and into the pommel, where it is attached with a brass rod. I think this is a big plus because you can trust a full tang knifes durable. When I was deciding which knife to get next, I considered this one, as well as the standard Buck 119. After handling all two knives in a store, I liked the feel of the wood/brass handle the most. I choose a Buck 119BR survival knife because I can see its strong points: Ideal for cutting, piercing, and for detail work.
Only 10.5Oz weight, Buck 119BR has got the balance point is about an inch below the guard, which makes it sit nicely in the hand (on the other two, the balance point was right at the guard). I personally like the heft of the knife, but I could see it getting tiring after extended use.
When I caught the handle of the knife, it seemed slightly smooth in my opinion. In case your hands tend to be wet, or you don't have a powerful grip, you might have a concern holding this adequately. Buck 119BR Knife is the most admired fixed blade cover knife. The special feature includes a 6" cut point 420HC Stainless Blade. It's 10-1/2" in general duration. The 119BR Unique also includes a Cocobola handle having a polished metal butt as well as finger safeguard, and has a fitted dark leather sheath.
The Buck 119BR sheath was designed in a good form fitted for this knife. Somebody did not believe this sheath is leather because its too good. Believe me, its leather real leather. When I put the knife in the sheath, it is snapped closed the upper part of the sheath wraps around most of the handle for protection from scratching. Both the knife and the sheath are very well made. Theyre all proudly MADE IN USA! Im sure Buck 119BR is absolutely beneficial for us. It is really an eternal classic that has been around for a long period like the actual 110 as well as 300 series.Buck knife is well known for having the ability to get a great temperature out of the highly corrosion resistant 420HC.
Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and I highly recommend it to you. The actual 119BR Unique, as with all Buck Knives, includes Buck's 4-Ever unrestricted life time warranty. If youre a hunter/camper/knife collector, or you just like to join a game call survival adventure in your free days instead of lay on the sofa, I think you should consider a Buck 119BR in your backpack. It is a great knife and tremendous value for my money.
