What kinds of materials should I use for leather and kydex sheaths. There are many different types of each. What is the basic kydex and basic leather I would need? Where are the best places to purchase these? What tools do I need for leather sheaths? I'm not trying to go over the top fancy at this time but I would like to begin making sheaths. What kind of rivets should I use and what tools do I need to install them? Basically I need everything haha. Thank you for the help.

Welcome Kalebh. Read the first few pages of Sheaths and Such and you'll find pretty much all your answers. Plus the answeres to a lot of questions you don't know you have yet. There is a LOT of info here and folks willing to help out.

I'd suggest picking one or the other to start. The process and a lot of the tools you'll use aren't interchangeable and trying to learn the ins and outs of both at the same time is more likely to lead to frustration IMO. You can find a lot of info in the tutorial sticky near the top of the post list, but keep in mind that both are gonna have a learning curve.
As for material and such, I'd advise looking around the sheath section of CKK (KifeKits.com) on the Kydex side. They should have the material, eyelets, setters, ect you'd need without having to worry about specs.
