for all the wonderful stories. As my screen name says I am a police dispatcher. We work four 12 hr shifts, and they can be long ones if things are slow. This shift has been one of the slow ones, but I have spent my time reading all of jackknifes stories and now my shift is about over. Some of the stories brought back fond memories of my chidhood.some made me laugh, some brought tears to my eyes.but they all were excellent stories. Thanks Again and I look forward to the next one.

I think we all feel the same about Jackknifes stories.
They are part of what makes this folksy place.

I suspect that many forumites, logging on, first go to the Traditional forum to see if there is a new "Jackknife Story".

JK does set a great tone to this place and I know many of us look forward to his posts.
Always good level headed thoughts on subjects as well as stories that stir thoughts and memories of a lot of us.

He along with many of the regulars here are cherished for their contributions that are the real reason this particular forum is special to many. When you couple those contributions with the level of integrity here it is easy too see why so many friendships have evolved.

Thanks JK, you add more to this place than you will ever realize. ;)

I just got in, & that's what I did. Now I got to shower before I get kicked out of the MWR tent.

I really enjoy his stories and his point of view on things in general. He is the reason I own a peanut and a four way pocket screwdriver and a little finn. I have to say that he has been a positive influence on me.;) Thanks alot Jackknife.

New guy here, but I'm gonna chime in anyway.

I've discovered Jackknife's stories during my perusal of this subforum. They are very enlightening and make me really stop and reflect about what is important in life.

Thanks for sharing your words of wisdom.

Ya know, you guys keep it up, and I'm lible to run for some office! Heck, my hat size has went up a size since reading this.:D

Jackknife,

I want to thank you again for posting the stories you have written. I made my earlier post after reading only a few of your tales. They were wonderful pieces of writing, and I enjoyed them.

I've spent the last few days reading more of your stories. Each time I check in here, I try to read two or three. They are, to put it mildly, profound. I find myself pausing after each one and I can visualize the events that you have described. Additionally, your stories have made me stop and think about the little things in life that are taken for granted.

As a newbie to the world of traditional knives, you have helped me realize that the newer style of knives and their steels are not necessarily better. Like you've said, 'the right tool for the job'. It has kindled in me a fire to not only explore the world of slipjoints and other traditional style knives, but also americana and the rich history of our nation.

Thanks again.

JK your stories actually reminded me I needed to start carrying he slippies I had in a box again. Although I ended up buying like 20 more. But they remind me of traditions I want to pass on to my son.
