Ladies and gentlemen,

I want a Cricket, which is weird to me, because usually I hate tiny knives, but I want a knife that can, with a good fit, clip into the pocket of my 5.11 ATAC Shield boots while still offering great performance. I figure it doesn't count as concealed carry since the clip is nice and shiny, in contrast to the matte black of the boot.

Anyway, does anyone here own a Cricket? What do you think of it? Nishijin glass fiber or tattoo? I don't mind paying extra for the Nishijin, but if it's going to be rough on the inside of my boot pocket, I'd rather go for the tattoo. Not interested in the plain version, just because the other two are nicer and not much more expensive.

I've got the Nishijin.
Nice little knife but sadly hasn't seen much pocket time.
Saw one a couple of weeks ago when a client pulled it out of his pocket using it as a money clip. I thought maybe that's what I'd do with mine but I'm not much on money clips and honestly it would need to be a whole lot bigger.... ;)
As far as something for your boot that's going to get a bunch of wear on the scales, I'd go with the plain. The Tattoo IMO will wear eventually and look less than desirable. The plain will wear nicely and that adds character rather than detract.

I see, some very interesting points to consider. I'm not big on money clips either, but you know, the plain is making more sense to me now. Open to more opinions, of course. :)

You could always have the plain engraved. Depending on the design, that might hold up pretty well.

I emailed Spyderco about their tattoo and Nishijin designs. They said that the coloring on the tattoo is actually a part of the metal, so it's not coming off anytime soon.

So, I bought one! They said the Nishijin glass fiber was smooth, too, but the tattoo design just spoke to me more.

Should be here in a week or so. I'll let you guys know what I think. Man, I've really been on a Spyderco kick recently...

Step 1: admit the addiction :)
