A little background. I used to race motocross semi-pro for a decade (I was good...not great). I also owned several very fast street bikes in the 80's and 90's. I was severely injured in a fun day of riding motocross just before I turned 30. I broke my neck, dislocated my left shoulder, broke 3 ribs, deflated my left lung, lacerated my left kidney and broke my left pinkie. This all cost me 10 days in the hospital and a nagging fear about riding fast again.
Once I was healed (let's just say postpone the major arthritis until I was 50)....I was able to ride again....but not without that nagging fear in the back of my brain about crashing again.
I basically sold my **language** and got out.....though I have dabbled in riding motorcycles over the years.
Today was a different day.
I have a friend that I have known for the last 30 years...a "Go Fast" buddy. He called me a few months back and wanted to know if I wanted to take a spin on his 2008 Suzuki GSX1300R Haybusa motorcycle. I declined several times over the last couple of years. He texted me again last night. I was feeling a wild hair today and took some time off of work.
I jumped on the bike after lunch today and took it for a spin over the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (low traffic, low police presence, only cameras at the span).
I finally flinched at 168 mph due to the wind.
I was more alive today that I have been in the past 20 years....I was a Falcon.....
