In the world we live in today, it is refreshing to run upon a person who finds more reward in giving than in receiving. That person is one of your very own here on this forum and none other than sitflyer (Duane).
A couple of years ago, I started a very small collection of inexpensive knives and then got distracted and busy with other things. I am not even sure I can call it a collection as I want to carry my knives on a regular basis and use them in ED life.
Recently I picked up my little collection and was going thru it when I realized that I did not have a Barlow style knife and remembered owing one as a younger fellow. This prompted me to make an information post a few days ago seeking advice on what to look for in my quest to add a Barlow to my rotation. A short while after making my post, I received an email from sitflyer wanting to gift me a Barlow. I had to think about it and remembered lessons in life teaching me to not turn down someone trying to do a good deed as it could serve as an insult. Duane did not know me from Adam and I was a perfect stranger, yet he wanted to do something nice for me. He would not even accept reimbursement for the postage. I am blown away and rather choked up over his generosity.
My wife returned from the mail box today with a package in her hands for me. Upon opening it, I found not one Barlow, but rather two Barlows from Duane. I was beside myself and even more choked up. I don't know why I deserve such kindness from someone who doesn't even know me, but I am VERY VERY grateful of sitflyer and want everyone here to know what a wonderful member you have among your group.
I am not much of a photographer like many of you here, but below you will find a couple of shots of the Barlows I received today from sitflyer. The top one is a Camillus USA and the bottom one is a Boker. Both are extremely sharp and a model to guide me in honing my own sharpening skills. Both knives are very nice and I am honored to have them.
Thank you so much Duane! I will carry these with pride and always remember your kindness.
