My gold membership expired and I went to renew it and was billed twice, What should I do? Do I need to contest it with the bank or can BF cancel one of the charges?

Thanks, Matt

Yes it did but dont remember what type of error and it said it didnt go through so I tried again.

Even when a card is declined for some reason, the funds are held by the bank for a few days. Yes it's stupid, but that's how they do. It should reverse on it's own in a few days.

The same thing happened to me. In a few days the bank will release the funds back into your account. It has nothing to do with Blade forums or 1sks.

Yeah, it's just an authorization hold your bank put on the funds. It's treated like a decline on our end, so we never see the money. Sorry about the inconvenience.

This sucks since I used my debit card and only had like $30 in my account I got charged a $35 overdraft fee! This seems to happen a lot and I would consider it BF's or 1sks fault. Why does the error keep coming up the first time you try and pay? That should be fixed and people should be warned. I'm now on my way to the bank to see if it can be cleared up.

You would be wrong in that consideration. Is it possible that you mistyped a single digit or letter somewhere on the first try? Even if not, authorization errors happen, and the bank holds the money when they do. Every bank, even PayPal. Belated advice I know, but never spend more than half of your account funds in a single purchase with a debit card. If this is the first time an error has caused withheld funds on you, then you're pretty lucky. Even without errors, authorized charges and actual charges tend to get crossed leading to the same situation. Debit cards are tricky.

If I mistyped a digit and I didnt it wouldnt have gone through the first time. I was just angry because I just saw the overdraft fee and a few other people mentioned it and if you have over $50 and dont check your account right afterward you probably wouldnt even notice it.

Also I just got back from the bank and they waived the overdraft fee. So let this be a warning to others make sure you have at least $50 in your account if using a debit card and I have nothing againt BF I just dont want this to happen to anyone else. I'm just broke and didnt want to have to pay the bank another $35.

Some banks love overdraft fees to the point of arranging deposits and withdraws to favor them and updating available balance info well before funds are available. Debit cards are very good for this. I've switched almost completely to PayPal lately using their debit card. No overdrafts, and if something happens to cause one, there's no fees. I once accidentally used a debit card from BB&T on an account I didn't use but hadn't closed, to buy a cheeseburger. That Micky D's burger cost me $110.

No offense, but I just checked the transaction logs, and the reason you got the first decline was because you put in incorrect billing address information in the credit card authorization form. That's not exactly our fault, and furthermore it's an anti-fraud measure designed to protect your card from being ripped off and used for transactions you didn't authorize.

I'm sorry you overdrew your account. I'm glad the bank waived the charges. I appreciate your support.

I deposited a check on a Saturday and the bank didn't let it clear till Monday night (8pm). The check was for $200, and the 10 separate charges (total less then $50) all hit Monday at 8am. $36 each charge.

Sorry it happened, glad they reversed it. They didn't reverse mine.
