I did some counting to find out which knives were favored in the contest that I won. Here is the break down...
Tim Wenger (Large) Clipit 16
Bob Lum Tanto Clipit 40
Bob "T" Starmate 60
Tim Zowada 7
Eduard Bradichansky Shabaria25
Military 28
Spyderench 37
Black Matriarch 9
Spydecard 1

A couple of posters couldn't choose or said they would take anything. There were a few double posts. Most of the people that chose the Starmate requested the plain edge.
Is anyone surprised with the balance of the choices? Or is this what you expected?
I thought that Tim Zowada would have gotten more and the military would have gotten less.
The reasons given for their choices were quite varied. Everyones reason was different.
Note that the count was not presented by an accountant and errors might be possible

I'd like to stand up and thank Sal for his generosity once again!

Tom - Thanx for the totals. Actually, that was part of the reason for the choices.

We learned that there are approx 235 Spyderco forumites that care enough for our product to post for an opportunity to win one.

We learned of the choices mentioned above.

We've also decided to tally locations, hobbies/interests and occupations where possible. If you are interested, I'll con the researcher into posting the results.

I'll be posting another research question for the forumites later on today, regarding the Y2K Native models.

Yes, If it's not too much trouble I'd like to see what the other fans are like.
I figured that you would glean as much info from this as possable.
Thanks

Shappa, great to see someone did the stats and put them online. Did Sal make you do that for winning the knife?

I was sorta surprised that the SpydeRench didn't get more votes being a brand new product and Spyderco's entry into multi-tools. Had the SpydeRench not been there, then my choice would have been the Terzuola though.

good to see your getting some reasearch mileage out of the give away.

it it matters, my reasoning for choosing a plain edge knife (starmate) was that most of my knives follow me to the kite flying field, and serrated knives (although faster line cutters in an EMERGENCY) leave too ugly a cut for most common kite-field repair/maintanence work.
