Mainly for Redear/Bluegill which I eat more of than anything (unless I can catch the Crappie:grumpy:).
Big Perch mind ya, up to 2 pounds or more.
Searched the pawnshops looking for a good fillet knife today (I gave my Uncle Henry fillet to my brother in law last year).
I was looking for something small, never dreaming what I would find.

About my 3rd pawn shop, saw a small fixed blade back in a corner of a display.
A Western W81!
If you have not seen one or handled one, it is their "Bird & Trout" model.
I gotta say I am in love with this knife.
Lazer/Razor sharp!
3 finger knife untill you "choil up" then it is 4 finger.
Crazy nice blade, and decently rare.

I have a ton of knives, and I simply fell in love, on the spot, $11 out the door, leather sheath and all.

Also picked up an excellent Kabar Dozier 4062 for $12, like new!

$23 for both, out the door!

I think I may be addicted to the "Cheapo Knives"!!!!:D
No buyers remorse here!

I think about all the custom knives I have on hand here, and what guns I could have bought for the same price!

Any more good "Cheapo Knife" suggestions?
I am all ears after these two purchases today!:D

I think Rapala makes the best filet knives. Period. They're not expensive. Mine is 20 years old and was less than $15 then.
Good cheap knives you say??? Mora, Mora, Mora............and Opinel. (Opinel makes a filet knife, but I have no experience with it.)

Never owned a Mora, but do own an Opinel.
Love it!
The only reason I was on the prowl today, was looking for an Opinel slimline #12.
No luck, but had quiet the smile on my face leaving for $23 total for what I got!
That Western is something to behold I tell ya!
Not the best steel I know, but so sharp, you prolly would not want to try to shave hair with it!:D
Crazy sharp!
Mighty sweet blade to boot, and excellent thick leather sheath, made in the good ole USA!

Last year at BLADE I handled some very nice cork handled filet knives by White River. Not cheap, but I really liked them.

You can't go wrong with Marttiini. I have two, one 8 inch and a 4 inch bird/trout! Reasonable pricing too!
