This is a "Can I use your knife" story that ended well.

Yesterday, I was at a "celebration of life" party for yet another friend who is now in fellowship with Bill W and Dr Bob. Approximately 300 of us packed a Masonic lodge and we all brought some sort of food item. When it was time to serve the food, a woman I know from my fellowship came to me because she assumed I was carrying... and I was. She needed to carve up a fried chicken. Then another woman who was dumbfounded by a huge lasagne used my knife, and on and on...

That is another reason I carry a knife. Strange enough, it was a very appropriate knife.

:D

Nice.

"Officer, it's my chicken-carving knife. See? I got pictures, and everything."

You're a good man CM. It's good somebody showed up prepared. I hate when lasagna is massacred and served as a pile of lasagna parts.

I hope you did the cutting, Matt.
ezduzit. ;)

No. I purposely handed the knife off. I wanted to see the look on the lady's face as she was using it.

#whatwasmymotive

I hope she did not cut on a plate but if she did... you know how to sharpen.

Years ago (before Camillus went down and they became collectors items) i carried a cuda maxx 5.5...on Thanksgiving it got put to use at a friends party to carve the turkey. As i take it out and wash it off this lady walks up to me and says " I loove how you handle that knife". My wife and I look at each other like "whatever pathology that was about I don't wanna know...

Love cool stories of knives to the rescue.

If you dont mind, heres a short one from high school:

I went to a christian boarding school in the middle of nowhere. On a weekend hike, we all settled down for fire, songs, etc. Trouble was, no lighter. My science teacher then offered ten bucks to anyone who could light a fire. Being the time period it was, i was always packing. Pretty cool to be able to leave the dorm, and go to class with a knife, without a word being uttered. In fact, my teachers always defaulted to me when they needed something cut.

Anyway, long story short, i pulled out my Benchmade Mini AFCK and made a bow drill. One shoelace later, i was ten dollars richer, and we were all several degrees warmer. Lost that knife shortly after. Wish i could find another.

Cool story, CM. Thx for letting me share as well.

That's awesome. My biology teacher defaulted to me for fire because out of all her students, she knew I had a lighter. Maybe it was because I reeked of cigarettes.

See, now a typical people friendly edc would not carve as well as a longer blade. Always prepared! CM you're like an eagle scout!

This is one of the main reasons I carry a big folder. It is much harder to do any sort of food prep with a tiny little knife than with a 4+ inch blade. Great story!

Back in the day I always carried a lighter........but reeked of something skunky. That pig sticker is badass btw.

Can I share my story, too? Back in my days in the Army, we were called upon to blow up some mortar guy's short round. It was a white phosphorus (why does no one ever short round something simple, like HE?) bullet. So, my partner in crime is fixing up the explosives and asks to borrow my knife. It's a big Ka-bar lovingly honed to a shaving edge and he knew it. So, I didn't think anything of it and loaned it to him. He immediately dug a hole right next to the WP round with it, loaded in the C4 and gently rolled that WP round on top of it. Without telling me any of this first.

At that time, the rule was that we had to blow that stuff up before sunset, presumably in case it set something on fire. Fortunately, we were deep into one of the swamps on Ft. Stewart, so no danger. We were driving back out of the swamp when it went off, a beautiful display against the sunset. :)

And no one got hurt. :) :) :)

Nice Mike! I was just at a wedding and the maid of honor need a knife to cut a couple straps off some shoes...naturally my wife offered up my sebenza. I'm always timid when letting people use my knives so I did the job for her.

My wife is all too eager to offer up my knife cutting services, yet when I suggested that she carry one of my old SAKs in her purse, her response was "I have no use for that."
