I didn't realize that 110's with a broken tip were worth more than one NIB

Was shopping on a popular auction site and the cheapest ones I could find were $20-25, now mind you, those were WITHOUT a sheath, broken tip and just barely fair condition overall. They are under $30 brand new about anywhere. I didn't realize that breaking the tip off one commands a premium as a custom modification  Now mind you, this was not some "collectable" version, it was a relatively new version with nothing special about it.

I was planning to try and find one with a broken tip for a reasonable price and drop point the blade, but I suppose I should just buy a new one and avoid the hassle of trying to find one that needs some love at a reasonable discount.

Good lord man, you're trying to save 5 dollars and find a 30$ knife with a broken tip for a good discount? If 5 or 10 dollars is make or break than you should look at maybe not getting a knife.

Yeah, I really don't want to buy a new one to modify. I'm so poor, that I need that $5 to feed my pet gerbil.

The point is that I didn't know breaking off a tip on a knife made it more valuable, but apparently you missed the point.

Go to Wal-Mart and get a new one for 27 dollars, then you can have the pleasure of breaking the tip off yourself.

What do you plan on modifying? I had a gerbil many years ago, it escaped and I later saw it playing college football:rolleyes: after years of tender care he up and left without word:mad:. I'm still proud though, his college (the witherington lettuce college) almost made it to the championship in 1992.

Really? Quoting in case you want to redact your trolling.

Trolling? Sheesh, YOU brought up the gerbil. I simply relayed my experience with my gerbil. A little high strung, are we?

Fine, I can take a hint. I say buy the 25 dollar 110 with broken tip. Good day sir.

I bought a 110 as a Christmas present for someone about a month ago for the ole $27 special. I went on the Walmart website to pick another up for myself on Monday and the $27 ones were marked as sold out. I just checked again to make sure.

I wonder if anyone has had any luck with an in store purchase since then. They do have the $40 leather sheath one’s, but at sub-$30, the 110 is/was such an awesome knife.

Correction. Looks like the $40 is sold/shipped by a third party. Maybe it’s just all the Walmart’s in my area are sold out right now.

Did he take any roids like the Racoons sometimes do?

He did look like he had been working out.. now I'm wondering.

Skip the 110. Most have excessive blade play. Some have a design flaw in the kick; when the blade springs shut it impacts on the inside of the knife and dulls the edge. Buck is aware of this design flaw but will not fix it.
