We had a gun and knife show in town this weekend. It's been years, more than a decade since I went to one. What a shame! I was missing alot!

I found myself drawn to one setup, again and again. A fellow and his old Dad, selling lots of old knives and many new ones. They had a case full of Boker Tree Brand slipjoints that I couldn;t walk away from! Wow! I sure have a hankering for a Boker or a J.A. Henckels Stockman or Whittler! Their prices were steep and I couldn;t justify another purchase, otherwise I wouldn;t have come away empty-handed.

These fellow's main theme, with placards all around, was "No Products Made In China". The son was a sharpener. I gave him $4 to put a nice edge on my RAT-3, and he did it well with a fine Arkansas and strop. Finally!

I walked away with a Swedish camp axe from another table. $12 for some beautiful steel. I'll post pictures when my better halves get back with the camera! I have an edge on it that will shave hair from my arm! I couldn't resist!

I have one of those shows up the road from me in a couple of weeks. can't wait. There is one blue ridge dealer that sets up and usually has a bunch of old Schrades that are affordable. I'm also hoping to find a Case gunstock trapper that I can afford. Whether I buy anything or not, it's still nice to be around a bunch of fellow knife knuts. Sure wish we had one of those sharpening guys that showed up, I have a Benchmade 530 thats a bear to get sharp.

Shows are definitely one of the more enjoyable experiences of the hobby/passion/obsession. Its so much more satisfying to pick a blade up, chat about it, then hand a friendly face a few bills much below MSRP than google and and click "check out." Its also great to see something you've been looking for that's out of production or rare. Can't wait till the next one around me.

I forgot to mention, Dad and Son had a couple of old Schrade fixed-blade skinners....... Made in the USA! Wow. They were nice. They wanted $55 and I wanted one badly. I think it said 155 on the blade, but when I looked that model number up, there was another Schrade knife. They still make that skinner, but now it's made in China.

They also had a Double Tree Brand (Boker?) John Wayne gold plated blade Trapper. I didn;t even look at the price tag. Nice presentation case. Beautiful. Tons of old knives. There was a Cold Steel Bushmaster with convex edge. Great knife! Pre-China and wonderfully made.
